What are your thoughts on the NEA-15?

The 7.62 upper has been awesome. I think that people were unhappy with the Gen1 and pleased with the Gen2. I would avoid the first gen rifles personally.

You get a good rifle for the price. Canadian made is nice. Great warranty.

Mine don't like PMAGS for some reason, feeding issues. Bolt hold open doesn't work with the PMAGS. Other than that, decent enough rifle but I rarely shoot then to give much of a review.

I have two,I brought them to the wounded warrior shoot last summer for the guys to use and they put a few thousand rounds through both and no issues.

New versions of them are great. They had some quality issues in the beginning. They do have an excellent warranty, of which is a good thing for those early versions.

Yes, I had an early version. Yes, I had to use my warranty. so, Yes, I am talking from experience.

I have a 14" and a 7.5" NEA-15. My 14" with the 12" handguard, which is what you are interested in, has about 10,000 rounds through it and I took detailed pics and gave specifics in this thread : http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...An-NEA15-Looks-Like-After-Close-To-10K-Rounds

Quality of the barrel, free-float handguard, lifetime warranty, and Canadian made are all features that stand out as terrific value for the money IMO. I have zero regrets buying both of mine.

Yo they be mo betta rifles fo lil mo chedda. If u got sum extra hunnits get da colt

Fo shizzl!!

For those who don't speak "Dirt" his advice is to spend a little more and buy a Colt. IMO there are other better brands as well as Colt that could be had for slightly more coin than an NEA. Just an FYI, the receivers and their handguard are made in Canada, the guts are DPMS out of the USA.

I liked my 14.5. It was an earlier generation but it was very accurate and gave me no issues. I liked the Grey finish. But my taste in uppers began to sway towards pencil barrels and other weight savings, the way God and Eugene Stoner intended, so I sold it and kept the lower.

The lower has mated very tightly to every other upper I have put on it - Norinco, BCM, LMT, etc. It remains my only AR15 lower as I am very happy with it. The trigger is... I don't know if it's good because it was good to start with, or it's been worn in over thousands of rounds, or I've just learned its nuances. But I like it, and when I press it I know exactly when it will break.

The only thing I didn't like about my NEA (aside from the weight) was the railed handguard. It's was more than solid enough for foregrips, lights and sling mounts but had just enough give to make me doubt it could hold any kind of zero with iron sights (or lasers, if you had one) That was the old hand guard with the side screws. The new one may be better.

The primary reason why NEA uppers tend to be tight on lowers is that they don't use a slot for the rear take down hole (like virtually every other manufacturer), they just have a hole.

#1 brand AR15 I see with broken/defective parts is NEA

#2 is Norinco by a decent margin

thoughts on the NEA rifle? it is just another valued priced AR rifle, works as reliable as a Norinco, DPMS, Spike or Core 15
Any caveats? the rifles comes with a lot of drama and emotional baggage.
Things we know don't work, things to beware of? NEA rifles seems to invisible to the forum search function because people ask about them as often as kids in the backseat asking " are we there yet?"
Picky on Ammo? I don't think so, at least I have never heard complaints from any NEA rifle before.

Just my 2 cents, but Im much more impressed with spikes than with norinco or dpms (I have no experience with core15 so i can't comment). I suppose the quote is 'as reliable', and I agree as i haven't really seen any reliability issues with Norc or dpms either. Guess im just a bit of a fan of spikes components and find their quality superior. Again, just my opinion.
Cheers

P.s., sorry for the derail

Bought a z-marked upper/lower matched set that was a bit out of spec. To their credit NEA made it right.
