Coyote Meat?

Gotta go find some Asian recipes for stewed dog meat. There's a saying in Korean goes like: when stewed dogmeat is ready, even the Saints can't sit steady....
Mind you though, they usually add ton s of hot peppers, maybe that's how they cover the foul smell, which is common in carnivore animal meats. How to cut the glands clean while field stripping is pretty important too.

Yet, people still eat bear

I eat bear, the flavor is a bit stronger than beef but still quite nice. I'd take a bear steak fajita over processed meat any day.
I imagine coyote is like any other wild game, it should be cooked well done to ensure no parasites or bacteria make it through.

That said I would not harvest any animal that lived near a city or garbage dump. But a wild animal on god's diet is fair game in my book.

I wouldn't eat ANY species of DOG no matter what the circumstances. Maybe with a gun to my head, or just a dog and me trapped high in the Andes mountains for months before rescue...............

Why else would they keep four gutted coyote carcasses in their freezer?

To eat them, I figure. Waste not, and all that. Had they kept the stuff at home it would have not been anyone's business but their own.

But to reiterate, the Health Inspector that wrote them up said that there was no evidence that they were guilty of doing anything other than having non-inspected eat in the cooler, as I recall. The media picked up the story and gave it legs, though. Nothing quite as fun as a real life stereotype joke to play with!

Like I said. First world problems, being able to be choosy about what is food and what isn't.

We had a cougar shot on our property this spring. It went to a fella that wanted it to eat. Would I eat coyote? Dunno. Never looked at one as food. But I grew up thinking you ate cows but not horses, eh? I won't consider picking up a road killed deer off the side of the road as food either. Social conditioning.
Folks eat Squirrels, and rabbits, but rats are bad, eh? And Guinea Pigs. All are rodents. Squirrels are rats with a hair-do, eh. And a better PR agent.

Cheers

Naive thinking my friend. They just nailed a restaurant in southern MB with having a bunch of elk meat in their freezer. Have you seen the price of beef lately? Take a wild guess what was in their burgers.

I would starve before I would kill and eat my best friend! I would probably even consider killing myself so he would have something to eat, if I knew for sure that I was gonna be a gonner anyway.

PM me the town or place, if you will.
I used to go to town once in a while just to get an Elk burger or a wild boar burger, but of late, they only have bison burgers and beef, of coarse.

Rabbits aren't rodents.

For the hell of it, cause I didn't know what family they belonged to...

No, rabbits and hares are members of the family Leporidae, one of the two families (the other is the Ochotonidae or pika family) in the order Lagomorpha. However, had this question been asked over 100 years ago, the answer would have been ‘yes’. Until the early 20th century, zoologists classified the rabbit and other lagomorphs (as members of the order Lagomorpha are known) within the order Rodentia (rodents), which includes rats, mice, squirrels, and marmots.

I love my dog and all, but let me tell you something, nobody relies on him for ANYTHING. I have a wife and kids, and he is replaceable.................me , not so much.

Check on the internet for how the Koreans and Chinese cook dog, use those recipes. Same animal.

Or contact the White House and ask how the President prefers it be served. He makes jokes about it, so I can too.

I doubt they're still serving it, it was illegal, they had no permit. They were buying illegally and then mixing it in with their beef burger, as they could get it much cheaper than beef. You can't serve wild game unless you have a special permit, even coyote.
