Had a friend modernized a mosin for me. Still have to put a scope on it and then head to the range.

I'm sure everyone has seen one in its stock form. So I will only post a picture of the completed one.

Looks nice...I picked up an action a while back that had the bbl already cut to 20"..im not fussy with synthetic stocks so I got a laminate from Boyds..just need to grab a scope mount and a scope down the road..She should make a good carbine for deer...

I've got a Mosin sitting in the gun room waiting to get worked on, shorten barell, boyds stock and a scope mount. just gotta find time. love those guns

That's a classy build. Everything you need ( including scope) and nothing you don't. Hope it's accurate too!

Iron sights at 100yrds it was bang on. figured it would be a perfect candidate for an upgrade. I. Looking forward to shooting it. Only crappy part is I have hundreds of corrosive rnds to get rid of. After this lot of corrosive is gone. I'm going to switch to non corrosive.

Or you could pull em, save the powder and bullets, trash the old steel cases & corrosive primers and reload into fresh brass with boxer primers.

I vowed to never fire corrosive ammunition though my SVT-40. I quickly gave up and started using corrosive. I know guys who use corrosive ammunition in a CZ 527 Carbine.

Shouldn't be a problem with the corosive ammo as long as you clean it well. Is it easy finding x54R non corrosive hunting ammo your way? My LGS can't seem to find any for me here in BC. To be fair, I haven't looked hard online either.

My LGS has piles of MFS 203gr soft point steel cased non-corrosive ammunition. Well, not anymore since I bought it all. I saw Cabella's has the same stuff but they charge $20 a box after taxes while my LGS charged $13.

My closest Cabella's is on the other side of the 49th. Something about ITAR? LOL!
Like I said, haven't seriously looked online. Have other toys to play with for a while. Just wanted a couple of boxes for poops and giggles.

Same here. I like having a couple boxes of hunting legal ammunition for all of my fun guns. One box to test it, one box to save. But like you, I don't source the internet for it. If I see it in my LGR I get it. I only bought all the boxes of .203gr sp 7.62x54r because it was during the time I vowed to never fire corrosive though my SVT-40 but now I do use corrosive. If you lived near Tofino id trade you a couple boxes for corrosive. I've got 15 boxes of .203gr sp.

I have no reloading equipment.

Local store said he can order non-corrosive cases. I didn't ask much more then that yet as I have hundreds of corrosive to shoot. I always keep my guns clean so it's generally not a problem. But if I go away for a week hunting with no easily accessed cleaning facilities. I'm likely not going to want to clean it. I think corrosive for fun. Non-corrosive for hunting.

Ive seen non corrosive ammo available at our local gun shows pretty well every time I go, I don't think its that hard to find, at least not around here.

give us an update on accuracy when you get a chance. im torn on whether or not to get an chinese type 53, or cut my old beater 91/30

I plan on it. Hopefully it warms up a bit. I don't mind shooting in the cold. But would prefer to zero and shoot precise while not trying to stay warm at the same time lol.
