Definitely get it.
Where can you get a 30 calibre, strong and sturdy rifle, that is sooooooooooooo simple to clean and maintain, for around $150?
Ammo is cheap.....and heck if you are really bored of it....go and modify it with all the aftermarket parts that are available for it and start fresh!

Had mine out today. Took my Dad to Silverdale. He has never shot a Mosin or SKS before and when i was a kid, i remember him never liking guns........ The smile on his face after pulling that trigger tells me everything ..... Love it ... hahahahahahaha get er' done boy

This ain't my first rodeo guys , but thanks for all the colorful contributions. I just asked basically , if you found the novelty thing wore off , and then the gun didn't get much range time. I've found that to be the case with a lot of guys and their SKS's. Bought em , shot a couple hundred rounds , + sold em.
I'm a bolt gun lover + cheap ammo is always a plus in the equation. I'll probably pick one up locally . I'm a bit old fashioned that way. I like to do a hand's on inspection . Feel the action , look down the bore , etc. My local CT store had sks's last time I was there. Who knows , maybe they'll get some Mosins in too. I'm in no hurry. Not a compulsive buyer. The right one will find me when IT's ready. It's gun karma. Maybe my next trip to the local range. It will know me when it see's me. LOL Thanks again for all the replies !

MOA or less with iron's and chinese ball? Either you are the captain of the Canadian shooting team or my mosin is way outta wack lol
I accurize all my Mosin-Nagants, pressure pad for the barrel, canvas wrap to dampen the barrel harmonics, shim the recoil lug and tang.. and with a good bore MOA is definitely possible, not with every rifle though and usually not with surplus. Shooting MOA at 100m+ at all with iron sights is a challenge in its own right, 2 MOA is more realistic for a Mosin-Nagant with irons. I think mbogo3 is using hyperbole.
It could get worse. After 91/30 and 38 and 44 you might want to find and shoot m91, and then who knows maybe even Berdan II. After Svt40 you'll be saving for svt38, tt33 will lead you to search for tt30, and Soviet Nagant m1895 will be looking for his older brother - Imperial Nagant.
I am safe as I have no 91/30, 44 or 38! But I do pray 3 times a day "... and do not lead us into tempation..."
Well that about sums it up. Pretty much my story right there. Bought a 91/30 about two months ago, now I have an M38 showing up in the mail soon.
Been thinking I'd like to try an SVT40 someday... 
For the price, a mosin is worth it. Any hey, if you don't like it you can get your money back. All my friends and family who shoot my mosin enjoy it a lot.
The rifles and ammunition are inexpensive and fun to shoot. If you don't like it, you can sell it for at most a modest loss.
Mosin PUs and accuracy are another story. I have several but they don't shoot surplus well. Expect 3-4 inch 10 shot groups and plenty of random fliers. Better ammunition is hard to find. The best I have found so far is Horandy Vintage steel match - $36/20 plus tax. Reloading for 7.62 is more expensive than 0.308. Cases run about $70+ tax per hundred if you can find them. Projectiles are the biggest problem. Everything in 0.310 and 0.311 is back ordered. In theory you can shoot Hornady match bullets for ~45/100 plus tax but there aren't any to be had; Sierra HPBT are randomly available for $55/100 plus tax. Reloading ends up about $0.70 per round.
With good components and plenty of practice I'm still trying to achieve 1.5 MOA (5 groups of 5 shots on the same page the average of the group sizes is <1.5 inch).
