The .308 debate. What would you get?

Without sifting through 10 pages of posts, why did OP get rid of the XCR-M (money thing aside)? To me it just seems like the best option, heavily swayed by its NR status. I love the AR platform, but I just can't stomach restricteds when NR options are available.

Accuracy sucks.
Nonrestricted means being able to use it for hunting. Hunting with a 3+ moa rifle limits your range significantly once you add in accuracy loss from imperfect conditions and improvised shooting positions. Tough to be confident of an ethical shot...
The xcrm is at it's best with a reflex sight blasting like a carbine, very soft shooting and good control placement. Dmr/hunting 308, not so much.

......and considering you can get a Chinese Norinco M-305 to do the same thing for around $500, which would most prefer to beat around in the bush with?

Those M1A NM M14 are sweet shooters... JP.

lol this Caramel guy seems to own every gun there is haha

Modern hunter is official non restricted, should be a no brainer now.

Until proven otherwise, I stand by my original post in this thread.

"Determine your budget and then pick your poison:

KAC SR-25
LMT MWS w/ss barrel
LesBaer
Larue
GAP10
DPMS G2
Armalite SASS

Until the ATRS has 10's of thousands of rounds downrange from multiple owners, isn't it fair to hold out and see what it can do in the 1st place? "

Should the Kimber 8400 be in there?

Not really, if someone is in the market now for a 308 now they might as well take the chance to have something that is non restricted that they can take and use anywhere. If this gun doesn't live up to the hype atrs reputation is toast
, and im sure with all the hard work they put into that company they wont let it happen.

Nothing against ATRS. Only time will tell if there rifle will hold up

At 2K the FNAR should not be overlooked, off all my NR semis, the FNAR is the most precise and the only one that is MOA or better with factory fodder... JP.

Perhaps it's my personality, but I don't tend to take $3,100 "chances", let alone recommend it to a perfect strangers, for a rifle that no one owns, have shot, hasn't been tested to the same extent as the rifles I listed.

Take the non-restricted factor out of it and your argument completely falls apart doesn't it.

If the MH lives up to the unicorn pedestal you all are putting it on, that’ll be excellent news for ATRS and I’ll be happy to say so myself.

I partially agree , but there one thing your missing. Yes it's one thing to lets say" take a chance" on a m305, t97, hatsan, a use gun or milsurplus; but it's not as bad taking a chance on a Canadian built rifle with full warranty should something go wrong.

People understand what they may get ( take a chance) with milsurps and Chinese/Turkish/ Eastern European made firearms but the dollar spread between a $200 gun and an, as yet unreleased, $3000 rifle is a tough pill to swallow, warranty or not. For the wallet minded, it is a huge leap of faith.
Having said that, I have no doubt the MH platform will live up to expectations. Based on what I've read, it is as close to a sure thing there is.
