234 Wildcat Family....ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Just checked something out with the Vanguard, the boltface is large enough to accommodate the extra dia of the Penguin case (6.5X55), a couple 700 Rems I checked were not, so that is a bit of good news that I don't have to open up the bolt face. The Vanguard is a whole lot easier, even if I did because of the style of extractor, the 700 Rem is not near as simple with it's little countersunk extractor, they are a pain in the ass to open up.
I think this is going to be a fine donor rifle and I get to KILL another 270 Win...........BONUS !!!!!!

Here's the photos I promised of the Vanguard VGX.......270 Win, soon to be a 234 Penguin.

Quite a meaty little rifle and fairly heavy in the nice walnut stock, but that's OK I'm going with a 26" tube anyway so it'll balance better and will be a dream to shoot........watch your hits...........

I would think it would work flawlessly Johnn........I'm not familiar with the S&L 69 rifles but if it's already in a 6.5X55 I can see no reason it wouldn't do nicely.

Admittedly, I am a fan of Schultz & Larsen rifles and have a couple of model 68DL's and a model 65DL. When I saw these S&L M69, supposedly target rifles on the Tradex site, plus the calibre they were in I started wondering how they'd work as a donar rifle.

I'm still digging through the safes..... perhaps a .234 on a 257 Roberts case or how about same on a 6.5 Rem.Mag ?
A nice slick little Rem. 600 would be nice and handy.
Decisions, decisions........

I'm 'thinking' of possibly picking up one of the m69 Schultz & Larsen target rifles T.E.C. TradeEx has advertised and going for a 234 Penguin.

Darn good idea I think, which one is the Penguin.... the Swede case ?If so that should make a real ring-tail tooter !!

That it is, the 6.5x55. That being the case, I don't believe any alterations to the bolt face or much else would be required.
My New Years Resolution was "No new or additional firearms this year". Shows you how weak willed I am. So far this year, my BFR is here, a Marlin 45-70 is on the way and now I'm contemplating a 3rd:redface:. With a track record like that, I should consider a post retirement career in politics. I'm a natural!!.

And yer being punny too.................

OK, I think I am suffering from withdrawal symptoms, nothing new on the .23 calibre rifle front for a couple weeks................

Doug

I'm a single shot kinda guy now...

the only gun I'd consider is my Ruger1 in 2.... er.. never mind the caliber.

but I'd think the Penguin would be SUPER in it, with a 28" barrel, or even a tad longer...

I have some x55 brass already.

now to find some kids to sell for medical experiments....
