Shorten PAL Approval Times

So can I send my exam results to my cfo while I wait foe my licence to be processed ???? To speed things up that is .
Yes, on the assumption that they don't touch it for 28 days and that it is mostly first in first out it at least gets you past the 28 day hold.
Submit your application registered mail and do not check the boxes for the exam results attached.
Once you get the results back from the CFO, check for your application number anytime before that is a waste of time, if for some reason you get it before 30 days are up, wait until 30 days before checking online.
Once you get the application number online call them and say you have the results and you need a fax number.
Fax it in quoting your application number.
Wait about 3 days to a week (it was a week for me) and call to confirm they got it and it has been attached, if you call at 3 days and no change wait until it has been a week

They do track and assuming it is like typical IT Ticket tracking, every time you call they will mark it down. I doubt it affects anything other than their opinion of you but better not to annoy them the next time they call, they may divulge more than the are obligated.

I had talked to one guy yesterday and he had said that the portion between the application number being put in and the reference section is handled outside their group.

I'm a little confused . I have all ready sent in my rpal app with my results attached . But I made copies and kept the originals. Is what your saying only if you want to apply be you received your results ?? . I thought that the CFO had to approve your licence application ? And that's why the results were sent to the CFO so that could happen while the rcmp do there thing ???? .

From how I understand the CFO rubber stamps your results however it takes about 20-30 days for them to do it from the time you send it to them.
You also have a 28 day hold on when your application gets submitted to the RCMP.
If you do it in serial one after the other you have the 30 days of CFO having it and then another 28 day on your application sitting at the RCMP before they even touch it that works out to ~58 days before the application number gets created from the time you took the test.
Essentially by sending the application to the RCMP in at the same time of the results being sent to the CFO you are running two processes in parallel cutting the time down to around 30 days for the application number created.
Then by faxing it in you merge the two so you are basically leveraging the hold to get the rubber stamp.

that makes me jealous. mine and gnatwest's licenses weren't issued within 5 minutes after references called in.
license# wont show because I heard few guys were caught photoshopping PAL and getting stuff from online stores with fake 'scans'

My reference phoned in 4 weeks ago on Monday and still nothing

My application as per Canada Post was received Dec 11th. Finally showed up online mid January and just today got a call for a part of my application I missed and the person said they are now forwarding it to the Provincial CFO. Sooo maybe some day I will actually get my PAL.

OK so what do I say to the CFO in the envelope with my results in ??? Just please authorize and return to sender ???

When I challenged the exam the examiner sent the results to the CFO so I didn't send anything. Only thing I did was put my address on an envelope.

One thing I haven't heard or confirmed is if the message on the website changes when the process gets to the point where your references can call in

Application was received in Mirimachi on January 20th (two weeks and three days ago) and still hasn't appeared online. Ugh.

I gave the office a friendly call just to see what the time frame was, he said that January 20th would be the processing date of the application, but that "We won't open the envelope for four-five weeks from when it was received." (Those exact words). He was friendly though, at least. Told me to check online at the end of February or beginning of March.

It says on the site that there's a 4 week waiting period. It should show up online right after that 4 week mark is hit.

Nope nothing changes just gotta keep calling. Nothing changes after either until its approved, which sometimes happens immediately and sometimes not so much.

This is more a matter of when they open the envelope as opposed to an exact waiting period, it just happens to be about a 4 week backlog at this point in time

####e they told me 2 week back log on the 20th Jan . There must be alot of us wanting a licence to aquire ............

Yeah they said there was a higher than normal volume of applications over Nov-Jan. Seems as though many people wanted it for Xmas. Ah well....it will come when it comes. As with anything Gov't.....if they want it from you...it is right now. If you want it from them......whenever they feel like it.

FWIW I called today to ask questions about a transfer and whether they had received my confirmation of gun club membership. The lady was by far the worst I've had to date and made a comment about my license not even being close to being approved. My reference called in on Wednesday. Today is day 60.

Not really.

45 days, including the 28-day legislated waiting period, for a licence application
