It's only money, and I am about to post a some rifles for sale to finance either that or 16GA.
double gun, understanding your concerns, how long do you think it would take to get the shotgun set? Will they take the order?

Seriously considering the '74R set for sure, along with either 16 or 20 shot barrels, and perhaps a second rifle set in 7X57R. That will keep me hunting anything that walks or flies in NA.
Have my eye on a very lovely Sauer drilling in 16 GA X 2 3/4"/8X57JRS. If it were 9.3 anything, it would be on the way to Whitehorse by now. Had one years ago, and sold it when we needed some cash. Family always came first....still does!

I honestly don't know all the ins and outs. When I contacted chapuis (if my memory serves me right) they suggested it would be in the ballpark of $2500-3000 to add a set of shotgun barrels and they only offered 20gauge barrels for my frame. The frame on the ugex was recently (say last few years) changed - mine being the earlier version. I then was researching the option of custom barrels on the nitroexpress forum and was talking to a custom builder in the US who was willing to make me a set in 28 but his costs (as expected) were considerably higher.
I believe the cost and hassle would be best handled with the original order. Tradex was selling two barrel sets a year or two ago. I assume he could get (or may still have) more.
Very nice... I would be far more inclined to a SXS swap barrel over the drilling... just plain more functional without the redundant barrels along for the ride... just make a nice compact, padded barrel case to slide into your pack... 9.3x74R & 20 gauge would cover pretty much everything... but a set of 7X57R barrels would add finess to the set-up... if you get it done... post lots of pics!

If I had a Chapuis double SxS with 12 gauge, 7x57R, and 9.3x74R... I would sell everything in my collection except my small-ring custom Mauser in 7x57 (assuming it's not lost in the fu*king mail), my Tikka T3 Battue in 30-06, my antique-status Swiss 1882 revolver, and my best non-refurbished SKS. 5 guns. Done.
Expect a few sweet (OCD maintained) guns in EE if it happens.

The standard Rex box lock....
has not too bad wood on it either.
The one I am looking at is similar, and comes with a Kahles Helia 2-7 for considerably less than I was expecting. If the extra shotgun barrels cost three grand, that is going to change my direction pretty quickly, I'm afraid.

despite some bad mouths if you need i can help on the french speaking side.
like a drilling with a 9.3x74r will be more for me and needed to sell some guns but it will be a merkel with of course with left hand stock ...

I may not have been very clear in my last post. That price was to add barrels after the fact. I believe if you buy it as a two barrel set, the second set is less money - how much I can't say.
Whatever you decide, whatever brand you choose, I would encourage you to be sure and handle the rifle before purchasing. I think it would be silly to spend real money on something like this without first handling. If you ever come down to Alberta, you would be more than welcome to try my chapuis I have lots of ammo.

That is very good advice. I tried a Merkel 470 Nitro Express that a fellow up here has, and it really does not fit me well.
