I would like to add a .22 pump to the collection. I would love to find an old Cooey, but I am more than likely looking at a new Henry H003T or Remington 572. I am very happy with my Golden Boy and LOVE my Nylon 66, so not sure which way to go. Tell me what you like or don't like about your Henry or Field master. Thanks !

Thanks for the reply. I had my hands on the Henry last weekend and it was very nice. I have not found anyone with the Remington in stock to make a judgement. There is a considerable price difference between the two. One vote for the field master.
There is also the old Winchester 62's out there as well as the Rossi clones. They are not as easy to scope but they are fun guns to shoot!
I saw a nice mint old Winchester at the Chiliwack gun show last month for around $500 that was the best deal I saw that day.
The Rossi's are usually around $300 or so.
I kind of prefer a hammer gun if it's going to be used for hunting because you can walk around half cocked and then #### the hammer when you see some game instead of relying on a cross bolt trigger safety with a round chambered.

My wife bought me a Henry pump .22 a few years ago for an anniversary gift. Its an awesome rifle, love it. There are two things you need to know about them:
1: its based on the lever design with a few mods to accommodate the slide action. Its not quite as smooth as the Henry lever (if you are expecting it to be). The action is basically the same as the lever, it just uses a different handle to work it.
2: the bolt can cause some "bite" if you don't allow for it. As I said, the action is similar to the lever and the bolt comes straight back out of the receiver. If you maintain a "shooting" hold with your trigger hand you might get the bolt in the web between your thumb and finger unless you adjust your grip. Not an issue with the lever version obviously as your hand moves to work the action.
Nonetheless, an excellent rifle. I like the fact that I can load almost an entire box of shorts in it and pop away.

I've had a couple of those old Browning pumps and they work
really well.
Spit the spent casing way awff yonder.
They make wonderful clickie noises when working the action too.
I think Moses Browning invented the proper gun action sounds like
the clanging of the mighty old A-5's.

I picked up a "lightly" used '70's 572 last year. Haven't shot it much but it shoulders like a full-size rifle, pump and trigger are both smooth.
Eats anything which is good given the scarcity of .22 ammo these days. A nice piece for anyone's collection.
