I will read through the EE to get some ideas, but it seems a lot of people are out to lunch with the high prices they are asking. Again I want to sell but I don't want to give them away. I will post some pics. shortly.
Thanks!

I strongly recommend that you keep at least one of those pistols. I have a feeling it would be unwise to lose one's restricted license, but perhaps that's just paranoia.

I'd keep the Ruger, if it were me.

^^^ Would he be actually be at risk for loosing his RPAL if he does not own a restricted? I had my RPAL for 2 years before I actually bought my first Restricted?

Ps: I vote to keep the SW 27!

Here's my .05

1. S&W Model 27 - keep it.

2. Auto Ord 1911A1 - if it's a pre Kahr ownership Auto Ord there was quality control issues with them. Maybe $450 tops.

3. Ruger MkII bull barrel with cosmetic finish issues - $250 - $300 tops.

My $0.02.

I have 3 handguns I want to sell. I haven't used them in about 20 years so I have come to the conclusion that I may as well let them go.
I have been out of the game for a long time and have lost contact with the people I used to shoot and shoot the sh*t with.
I have no idea of current values. I don't expect to make a fortune, but I don't want to give them away either. So I'm looking for some opinions on real-world values of what I should ask.
1- Smith & Wesson Mod. 27-2 .357, 6" target sights, trigger, hammer and grips. Beautiful condition. It's an older model from the 60's. Includes Pachmayr gripper and Bill Jordan grips. $800

2- Auto Ordnance 1911 A-1 .45 ACP, mmc fixed sights, some upgrade springs & bushing. Nothing special but nice shape. Hogue monogrip, nice set custom woods, pancake holster.$700

3- Ruger MKii Target Bullbarrel. .22lr, 5 1/2" barrel mint shape other than a little rust on the bolt where it unfortunately was sitting on a desiccant bag in the safe and I guess it drew the humidity out of the air and rusted a bit where it was in contact with the bag. (So be warned if you use desiccant bags to de-humidify make sure they are not in contact with any metal!) Pachmayr grips, still have the box.$450

stevebc is not being paranoid (I think). Think for a moment the Liberals gain power in the next election. OIC is issued from the new Liberal minister, can't acquire a restricted firearm unless you already own at less one (grandfathered). That is what happened when the Liberals created prohibited class of firearms.

I will never be without at least one gun. Maybe it is the military programming speaking, but I hated to be without one once I got back.

If you have something valuable, do you have someone you could leave it to someday? I look at higher-valued guns as investments or artwork, as well. Maybe it's because I'm pro-gun, but that's my 2 cents. If you don't have anyone to leave it to, I an adoptable. I don't eat much and I'm housebroken.

700 + for the 27
wouldn't pay for the auto ord myself, unless i knew i could resell it...but market value seems to be 350 -450
ruger 200 - 275

end of the day, whatever you can get someone to pay you for them

I am in the same mindset you are, good sir.

I have such a hard time getting rid of any firearms. Only one I got rid of was an old Lee Enfield, traded it to a friend for a Tikka T3 Tac .300wm. Personally, I would keep the Ruger, if you could, great little pistol

Sounds like he has quit shooting them a while ago. Sell them all and move on. Pretty tough to put a price on anything without pics. "Nice shape" means different things to people. If you don't post any pics when you post in the EE, expect to have a lesser chance of selling them. You are probably looking around + or - $1500 for all 3 if you sell. Never know until you try. Older Smith's are sought after, that's definitely the jewel in there. I wouldn't be interested in the other two.

You make fun of the 'high prices in the EE' yet in the next breath 'you don't want to give them away'... Seems like a little contradiction there. If want to sell, get as much as you can for them. $1500 or more is a good chunk of money if you are not using them anymore and could go to other interests or bills.

Thank you. This is what I had in mind, but failed to articulate.

Glad I could help. Can't trust the Liberals with the Firearm Act.
That makes sense now. I know I'd feel awfully stupid if I was caught out by something like that. Far better to always have one restricted just in case.
I missed out on owning prohibited firearms because I had sold off my Walther PPK & Snub nose .38 Special a little before the Liberals made all .25, .32 Cal and "short barrel" handguns prohibited. I got caught with my pants down. I didn't feel stupid at the time, I felt angry & betrayed. If Allen Rock felt he could have gotten away with prohibiting ALL handguns with one stroke of the pen, he would have.
