Shorten PAL Approval Times

On a second note, I've read that it takes months to get a club level ATT, so say it takes two months, then I am paying for my membership but can't use it at my range? How does this work?

Last time I asked it had been 2 months for buddy. When he bought an AR he did it through another guy who holds onto the lower receiver. Everything else is at his place. When they go, his buddy brings the lower receiver he brings the rest.

im a new member of The Grange (at target sports). here is how the process works for that club (im not sure how it works for other clubs).

i paid for membership on october 22, 2014. the next available seat for my CLSC was on december 20. i completed all three of my probationary shoots the following week. my membership started when i completed my final probationary shoot. i was allowed to bring non-restricted (.22LR rifle) to shoot there until my ATT arrived which took 3 weeks.

Might go and get some Reloading gear today - I figure by the time I get my PAL ill have 2 million rounds of 9mm ready.-lol

you wont be able to purchase powder until you have your PAL so you will not have 2-million rounds by the time you get the PAL in the mail.

Thats what I thought, but Epps yesterday told me there was no restriction or PAL requirement on any reloading items including Powder.

I repeated the above about 3 times to him to be totally sure thats what he was saying....

I have not done further research yet ?

update - you dont need PAL to buy any relaoding components according to everything I just read.

Think about it, you can build an entire AR15 minus the receiver....you can then buy and reload 2.23 5.56 ammo, and have everything at home without any form of licence or intention to even get one.
3d print a receiver if SHTF lol

oh thats interesting. i stand correctly. thanks!

edit: in that case, buy handgun powder whenever you see it. its hard to come by these days. im on a waiting list at Le Baron for some pistol powder (titegroup & 700x)

Have you joined a club? If so what club? Most clubs require a PAL before accepting a membership request? As The Sand Flows Through The Hour Glass These Are The Days Of Waiting

as far as i know, ALL clubs in ontario will only accept an application if you hold a PAL/RPAL. they will not accept an application if you "have a PAL coming in the mail".

the whole process really tests a person's patience. lol

i did my CRFSC in May 2014 and received my RPAL in the mail in September. signed up to a club in october. now i go to the range at least once a week (the most was 3 times).

Personally i didnt take the course not because of money but because of the time investment and i am glad i didnt.
Im reluctant to put the membership money down until I have the card at least - I could waste 3 months here waiting then another 2 waiting for ATT - almost half the first year gone lol.

At a leisurely pace - the firearms licence process is basically 6 months minimum to a year -- from making the decision to get PAL, learning the requirements, finding and booking a course (tough in itself around GTA), sitting the course, waiting for results, PAL app process itself, and then waiting for an ATT too get to the range........

LOL

My friend who I took the course with sends his application in by snail mail and they send him an email to call in cause he forgot some info on his application. I will be pissed if he gets it before me.

I eneded up doing it on the last weekend before xmas due to bookings - and although I wanted to stay home those days - I really enjoyed the course and learned a lot.

Just wish for some progress now in the coming few weeks :)
I went with the thought of:
Read the books, take the exams. If I fail then obviously need to take the course. I didn't fail.
