Shorten PAL Approval Times

Looks like a three-way Ontario race between me, you and Johnny TK.
His - recieved Jan 19, online Feb 9.
Mine - recieved Jan 19, online Feb 11.
Yours - recieved Jan 20, online Feb 11.
Might join your guys time line altho I'm in montreal.
My app was received on the 20th Jan. My card was charged on the 12th Feb but it's still not online . Trust me probly entering something wrong lol . Any way 4 applications received within 2 days of each other will be a good way to track consistency of application processing times . P's I'm squeaky clean no charges, good credit ,never a single point on my licence basic ly nothing that should hold up my application ..

Well that's promising. Dont know why you needed to capitalize where you did though everyone i have talked to there have been more than competent in speaking english. Reason i was saying to not call in is they track every call and probably what you say if you say something off. You have a special situation and last thing you want to come across as is someone who is really itching to have a gun what with assault charges etc. Not saying the charges were warranted (know someone in the same boat whose ex was a psycho) just that it puts you in a different position. If they said to send in, do it.
Good luck!
Well I caped it becuase the first ladies I spoke to had been difficult to understand and didn't relay the appropriate info to me where as the last lady was easy to understand.
And as for itching? HECK YES I'm itching and when an application normally take 45 days (1.5 months)Im sure they're used to people itching to get it after 300 days (10 months)
And I applied and didn't look into it again for nearly 9 months so I doubt they will peg me as being in a huge rush.I'm not sure how patient u are but me I want my licence already have a 9 I purchased off a friend. Just can't take it till I have my licence.

I think I have only heard of 1 peson recently who got it within 2 months but yeah I would probably be bugging them on a monthly basis after 90 days. That said, buddy got his PAL 10 years ago and it took 6 months which was supposedly the norm at that point so we definitly (in general) have it easier now but yeah it could still be improved.

I think the one person I have talked to consistently who was the most friendly and helpful was a woman named Lynne (no idea how she spells it though)

For those asking about recent timeline for licence approval after the references called in, my reference called Monday, licence switched to approved online today (Friday).

All depends on the province, apparently the booming metropolis of Saskatchewan is behind a the moment. My references called in last Wednesday and still nothing. Day 67 now...

Mine hasn't yet today, might be application submission date when did you put yours in? Mine was Dec 17.

Mine was the 8th and still nothiing. First in first out is meaningless when it comes to this process apparently. All depends on your provincial CFO in the end.
When did you get the ok for references to call in? Also where you from? I am suspecting it probably comes down to demand and equal weighting across the provinces. Which means if you are in a more populous province, you end up waiting longer.

Manitoba here, which doesn't necessarily have much weight in the poster a few pages back who's references called in over a month ago and his was still sitting with the Manitoba CFO apparently.

References called in last Wednesday. I'm from Sask. Guys from Ontario are getting approved quicker then me, don't think it's a population issue. Perhaps a staffing issue. Or maybe they send the application to the CFO by snail mail for approval, would take about a week or more. Who knows really.

Maybe it is the opposite, still trying to get a pattern. Granted the return to the CFO after the reference throws a wrench in that. Who knows maybe Manitoba and Saskatchewan have only 1 guy who does it on Tuesday and Thursday. In todays world, I don't know why it would be snailmail and I suspect not (probably fax since email is insecure and the govt can barely spell PKI for their bigger projects). We should start asking these questions when we talk to them.
Here is what I would like to know for sure:
1. Is the time it takes between submission to application showing up online part of the 28 day hold period or just a backlog. It just seems the amount of time to be convenient. I suspect it is coincidence.
2. How is the info that gets sent to the CFO sent? Is it mailed, emailed, faxed, messenger pigeon, smoke signal?
3. What is the true job that the people answering the phone. Are they just to vet calls and the odd reference who calls in or do they actually have some role in the whole process outside of that?
4. Do they actually track when people call and log what they say? I think they track the frequency of calls and maybe a quick note of "asking for status" but I doubt it is transcribed.

When you get the form call them and ask for a fax number, save you a couple days.
I asked them if I could fax it over, the answer was I have to mail it in. I will call again once I receive the form to confirm.

would have been a nice one for them to ask you during the two calls per week rather than write to you separately eh ? -
Although likely they need it in writing with signature....
haha ya would have been nice, would be even better if I could just fax it back instead of mailing it.

On a second note, I've read that it takes months to get a club level ATT, so say it takes two months, then I am paying for my membership but can't use it at my range? How does this work?
