Shorten PAL Approval Times

For sure, and technically i sent my results in later anyway,

I really dont expect it at this time anyway - everyone has pretty much been in the 60-80 range, and many beyond. Its rare to see under 45 on this forum.

Had my approval in 29 days, took my S&W .40 home the next day.
THEN I woke up, curled into the fetal position and cried myself back to sleep.

For those whose apps were received in Miramichi on/around January 23, are you online yet?

Ontario
May 21, 2014 - Took SFSC and SRFSC courses
June 17, 2014 - Received official results
January 21, 2015 - Mailed application w/ results
January 23, 2015 - Application delivered
February 12, 2015 - Credit card charged

Why a 7 month wait between receiving results and mailing app? You coulda been done long time ago.

If things haven't changed you should be:
Feb 23rd Online with Jan 23 as date
Mar 13ish: References allowed to call
Mar 26: Issued

As an fyi to those who are making purchases without yet physically possesing your pal - placing the order is no problem. just make sure that under NO circumstance are you in possession of any firearms or take receipt of any firearms UNTIL YOU HAVE THE PAL IN YOUR HAND. If you dont and you are caught you are done. It will be game over for you. Window shop. Pre order. Pre pay all no problem but dont be tempted to take possession without having that license on hand.

Word to the wise.

So did they ask you to get references to call in - or did you ask a reference to call in yourself in the hope that they would do the interview with them ?

I had one reference call in yesterday morning. I hadn't called in. He did his interview, I checked the website about an hour later and it was issued.

To the guys in day 40+, how often are you calling them? I felt like every time I called something got done within a couple days. Someone before said the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Squeak a little and maybe something will happen. My status online is the same today as it was 5 days after they got my app. It never changes to say anything like "have your reference call us". They never even wanted to speak with me or my fiance. Just my 1 reference. Call em up.

Ive called weekly since the 28 day period expired. My last call was Tuesday this week. I plan to wait as long as I can into next week before trying again. (so Monday at 9:02 am)

As someone who works for the govt I can pretty much guarantee calling and something happening is an exception to the norm. Also my discussion with the guy there, majority of the work happens outside their office so they can update the ticket but it happens when it happens.

I have been calling whenever they tell me to call back.

PAL/RPAL showed up online January 12th as "in progress". They have had it since December 5th. I called January 14th and was told that there is nothing I can do, not even have my references call in. I was advised to wait 30 days before I call again. The lady said it could very well be in the same spot even in a month and that they are having abnormally high mail volumes. I called twice more waiting about a week and a half each time, but then today (February 19th) they said they were ready for one reference to call in (4:55 PM). My reference called at 4:58. Checked status at 5:05... ISSUED! BOOM!

My reference called in last Monday, Feb 9. It still shows online as in progress. They told my last week my photo had to be scanned and electronically transferred to the Nova Scotia CFO for final approval. I called today and they said it could take 3 more weeks for an approval. This is for first time RPAL application. I'm wondering if anyone else is still waiting after your reference had called in. Also who else is from NS in the same situation?
