Looking at purchasing an AI AICS (ver 1.5 fixed) on my Remington .338LM. Anyone running one? How do you find it? Any issues with it? I am not interested in the 2.0 (folder) unless you can explain the significant advantages it gives (other than reduce length and better cleaning rod access to the bore) the extra $$$ and weight don't seem to be worth it.

Thanks,

I have one for my 700 300 win mag with no issues. I'm running a Atlas bipod and going to pick up some other attacthments from Victor Comapny. It's a study stock for sure , don't think you will be disappointed

I find the newer AX to be more ergonomic, modular and better thought out. Sold my CS chassis and haven't missed it since going with the AX.

I used to have one, it took some getting used to coming from Mcmillans and Sako TRGs. After using it for a while, it became very natural to shoot and quite comfortable when adjusted properly. I wouldn't hesitate to get another.

They are certainly tacticool. I had one for a while and it drew a crowd.

It does not shoot well from a rear bag and the factory bipod is a rattle basket.

Overall I liked it though. It was fun.

Mags are the best you can get.

I always wish I had the folder when cleaning, but otherwise can't really picture a scenario where it would matter. I'm looking at the Victor Company ViperSkins now to switch things up, so it's nice that there's some upgrade options down the line. Wolverine also sells some quick wingnuts for the check rest which will help out when cleaning / adjusting things.

V-Bloc can twist and will put torsion on your action. Also nothing guarantee they are perfectly straight. Not saying they are crap. They are very good but bedding it will maximize the benefits of this great chassis. Also Ever had a rear screw coming loose sometimes? ;) That is why. Loctite? It will only hold it in place but the problem under will still remain. Harmonics will now be consistent. And there will be no POI shift. Of course we are talking pure precision here. If you are not in that well the normal chassis will do is job just fine. See in the #2 picture... The side V-bloc "rails" a suppose to fit the action and center it. Well at many places there was no contact. This created torsion on the action.

I'll have to strip mine again and see what I can see in there. I'm not overly worried about mine though as the top one is my 223 varmint rifle and the bottom one is 300BLK, neither is used for long range precision.

What do you use for bedding? I have a different rifle I'd like to bed into a stock and can't decide what to use. I've heard devcon but a local smith I talked to said only marine-tex is good enough.

I've got the new AX in a .338lm setup, rock solid, a truly awesome setup with great adjustability.
I personally like the folding stock, especially if I carry the rifle any distance
