Looking at purchasing an AI AICS (ver 1.5 fixed) on my Remington .338LM. Anyone running one? How do you find it? Any issues with it? I am not interested in the 2.0 (folder) unless you can explain the significant advantages it gives (other than reduce length and better cleaning rod access to the bore) the extra $$$ and weight don't seem to be worth it.
Thanks,
I've had quite a few chassis and prefer the AI's. There ergonomic and solid.
Bed it.
I agree, I had a AX chassis with a 338LM that I was having a hard time to find a load, Couldn't really get it to shoot better than 3" at 300yds. Started doing some digging around and was really surprised to see how little contact there was on the the rear tang and the v-block.
This picture shows how there was only a small contact point of each side of the rear tang.

And here you can see the small contact points on the v-block.

This was my solution.

After bedding the rear tang the rifle tighten up a lot. After doing another ladder test I shot 4 in about a inch but then I pulled the 5th shot (at 325yds).
