***New to Canada*** BERSA THUNDER 9 PRO SEMI-AUTO 9mm

Is there even the slightest chance that there will ever be a barrel(or top end) made in .22LR for either the BERSA T9, or T9P? If that were ever the case, this would an autobuy (if it isn't already...), and -IMHO- would be the ONLY advantage of owning a Sig P22x: the ability to accumulate a whack load of cheap trigger time WITHOUT having to reload.

No plans that we're aware of, Bersa is quite happy with the .22lr they already make, the Thunder 22

Still sitting on the fence. Push me over? (Please! Don't! Argh!)

With all the comparisons to a SIG, I'm curious about the Thunder's grips.

As stated elsewhere, I'm disappointed how uncomfortable some of the SIGS feel in my hand. Always thought my hands were in the mid range area. Not sporting big meat claws, but haven't experienced trouble manipulating other larger pistols such as the Berretta 92. I've been told to try the SIG 226 E2 as it tends to fit smaller hands better.

Can you provide any direct comparisons with the Thunder to other common pistols?

My Pro 9 is awsome but i would buy a set of nice wood grips, any avaibility... JP.

You're one of the reasons I'm looking hard at this pistol. Saw many of your comments as well as your quick video (what's with the broken heart?). I'd value your thoughts over that of a retailer any day. A sincere thanks.

One of the questions I still have is the grips. Photos don't look like it's substantial, but with all the comparisons to a SIG, I'm a little worried that they're on the 'thick' side. Actually, as I peek at the above photos right now, they have a passing resemblance of a Browning High Power. Can I coerce any comments and/or comparisons?

Will be taking the Black Badge course shortly and am considering this gun. Mrs. is stealing my Glock17, and the cost of mags for some other options I have is not cheap.

The grips are not to thick, quite comfy actually, i like wood grips and it is always good to have a spare set.. Just saying. JP.

Found this Argentinian article while browsing for more info. Behold the awesomeness that is Google Translate:

During the visit to the fair AICACYP (see sidebar) in the stand mounted by the company Bersa, chatting with Lucas Bonadimani, I heard some news that was preparing the signing of Ramos Mejía. I remembered visiting the plant for April 7. That Monday a fierce storm affected much of the country, including the capital and the locality. So the postponed for Wednesday 9 and could well go on a motorcycle. Highway, Rivadavia and finally arrived. Received with cordiality long after the usual greetings Lucas and Benso, we sat and talked. A new gun, the Thunder Pro XT 9x19 caliber expected some administrative formalities for release.

What is it? The new product is based on the successful Thunder Pro to which you have practiced some modifications. Some are outwardly and not others. Which are seen are: has a longer barrel and also longer obviously a slide (5 "long barrel), the targeting system was modified. The screenplay is by fiber optics and higher (brand Italian LPA) is adjustable for elevation and windage. The rail located in the bottom of the frame was removed. What is not seen but felt and positive impact on their use, is the following. By having a longer barrel and slide increases the weight on the muzzle, this causes the survey of the gun after each shot is smaller and therefore making white is faster. This model has a higher standard models Pro adjustment as termination and polishing settings parts firing mechanism held by hand, each trying to achieve the desired standard. Sliding barrel assembly also undergo adjustment. All of this will in a much more accurate pistol. This does not mean that the Pro models are not, but the XT gun, the work of operators will be much more detail and will consume more time. All this will make the final price of this new model is somewhat higher than the other.

TARGET When he began working on the design of the XT thought of a product for shooters in general and sports in particular, especially for lovers of Practical Shooting. Not a gun designed exclusively for Practical Shooting, but has features such athletes can consider. Recall that exists in that specialty sports shooting a category that is where production-such use as the name suggests, weapons being produced en masse. Another thing to consider is that this category is not necessary when shooting with the 9x19 scope Factor Mayor, which is achieved with very few commercial ammunition and have to resort to recharge for it. And if we talk Practical Shooting Bersa say that today supports some shooters who use their guns in competitions. Among the plans of the firm is that of forming an official team to compete nationally and internationally, as do other brands in the world such as the case of CZ and Tanfoglio.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS By taking the gun, besides feeling good design of the handle, immediately sensed the brunt of mouth, later in the polygon would check its benefits. With respect to the handle is being analyzed for later make some modification in the handle. They could be equipped with a slimmer design and classic two screws, but for now will come with plastic, since the amendment would have to supplement with a piece on the back (spine) of the handle. The joysticks (ambidextrous) are very thin and virtually no gun protruding from the profile. The only lever that is not both sides is to be down to start the disarmament of the gun. Will be offered only for now, in bi tone black slide and silver frame. The new Thunder XT will be sold in a box of good clothing, larger than the current, as well as the gun four magazines are included.

TEST SHOT After the photo sessions with Lucas headed to the firing range that the company owns and which are fired every weapon before final approval. Upon entering we found Arsenio and Daniel hard at work. Kindly let me make some tests for evaluation. Indeed the brunt of mouth after each shot, lets take aiming devices much faster. The new system view, despite the low light conditions in the compound, fulfill their purpose very well. Pressing the trigger its route is very soft and out of the shot is well defined. It is here, at the time of the shooting, where the work of gunsmiths factory shows.

Having had the chance to shoot my Thunder Pro 9, i will be pleasantly in for the Pro XT model even with the price increase... Thanks. JP.

One of the nice things about the Bersa is the oversized and ergonomic controls. They are very easy to reach, but also easy to manipulate. They are designed to work with gloves. Trigger Guard is also oversized for us with gloves.

For Anyone still on the fence. I got mine last week.. And my initial imressions are that this is an awesome pistol. So far only 2 range trips.. But ive managed to get 300 rounds through it and im very happy. Im still planning on posting a review once ive had it shooting a dozen or so times.

I am thinking the same!!! The .22 pistol that they already make makes me think of our stupid gun laws and they took something that looks like a PPK and added a wack of barrel to it, just to make it Canadian legal! I would love it if they offered a .22 slide/barrel for the 9mm Bersa!!!!

This is still my next 9mm shooter pistol though!!! Love the looks of it!

Thunder 9 Pro XT will be coming to our market in maybe 6-9 motnhs, but it is about +$400 for this special model

Are motnths shorter than months? Because I can wait a brief time only for the XT to show up.
Way sooner for the arrival of the XT version would be way better. ;-D

Get those Argentines to get cracking on our XT's. This is no time to take a siesta.
