Shorten PAL Approval Times

In my case it is true and I let them know this on each of my multiple calls and each time was informed "Sorry we have no control over when they are ready for your references to call".

That is because the people who do the work between submission and references can call in is not the same department who answers the phone.

Also, I'm pretty sure Robbins was phoning into the CFO's office, not Miramichi. Congrats on the approval Robbins, hopefully I'm not too far behind you.

Your correct there!
I called into the cfo and asked to speak directly to the cfo, the lady asked what it was regarding, and i explained. She said that she would get the cfo to give me a call and verified my #. Woke up this morning to it being approved.

It came today so the results:
App arrived Dec 17 2014 (confirmed as same date later)
Appication number created: ~ Jan 16
Reference called in Feb 12th
Issued: Feb 17th
Application Received Feb 25th
Total days:70

Good luck all!

hi guys I am new to the site and looking for some advice I just completed my course yesterday to upgrade from my pol to pal should I send my app in now or wait to get stamped course results even though I don't have to wait the 28 days I live in Ontario

thanks for any advice

To clarify the first 28 days you deal with is a backlog in getting application number. Send in now so when you get your app number you should be getting your results shortly or just got them, otherwise you wait 4 weeks for your results and another 28 days for the backlog.

Seems that the norm with every document you need to get from the federal government is 5-8 months. Why it takes them so long to process a application is beyond me.

I'm NOT making excuses, but I know they have a higher number of applications and their process/staffing is not scalable.
My CRFSC instructor said he saw a big jump in the number of people going after their RPAL after the shooting here in Ottawa. Also the demographic of people has changed. Not just lads looking to get their PAL for hunting.
Also, remember this in 5 years when you're going to renew. There will be another big bubble of people looking to renew and that will slow CFC

Received by miramichi on Feb 4
Acknowledged my existence today, Feb 26.
22 days of checking my credit card several times a day to see if someone hadn't accidentally dropped my application behind their desk. I hope I'm one of the lucky ones and only have to wait max another 23 days.

One thing that always surprises me, is how surprised they seem when you're actually nice/thankful for the help you get. Are they having to deal with that don't understand manners?

I'm sure they have #######s working for them, and people having bad days...but most of the people we can contact are just doing a job how they've been told to do it. I get that the system is frustrating, but taking that out of the wrong people is stupid.

I only called them once a month after they charged my credit card and it went online. Same day it was issued for an rpal after I called and got a reference to call in.

Over the span of my 74 day wait I called in several times and with one exception everyone I spoke to was extremely courteous, polite and professional. I did have one lady who get a bit testy and short with me but that was after I started trying to politely push for more info on how I could accelerate the process as I had missed out on a job opportunity.

Day 50......reference was allowed to call in. He called about 4 hours ago, I was there when he made the call. Basically all they asked him is how long he knew me, if I was a danger to the public, why I wanted an rpal and which range I was planning to use.

Status hasn't changed....will update as we go....lol.

30 Jan 15 - application rec'd.

Application is noted as being in progress. I asked my references to call in and they were told they weren't ready to do my interviews yet?
