Colt IUR and le 6920 lower ?

If I have a colt IUR upper will the LE 6920 lower be good to go? Or should I just wait until CC sells lowers? I can get a 6920 lower on gun broker . $550 for a complete lower. And for resale value would it make a diff if it's a 6920 lower instead of a CC lower? I'm new at the AR game so sorry if the questions are dumb...:) Also if I get a complete lower to go with my IUR upper , will I need anything else to make gun functional? Thanks... Brian
 
You will still need a charging handle and BCG. Colt USA BCG's go for around $150-$200 USD
 
The upper comes with a charging handle so all you will need is a complete lower and a BCG.
I would drop it on the 6920 lower add a BCG and you are ready to rock.
I would be happy with any Colt lower but would love a Diemaco/CC lower.
Oh, and you are going to need some mags and either irons or an optic, upper does not come with sights.

This is a little inaccurate. The IUR uppers have a cocking handle. There are no CC BCG available at this time. There will be at some point this year - I can't put a date on it as they are all spoken for at the moment. When we do have some they will be made available and will of course have our lifetime warranty.

A Colt's bolt will be MILSPEC and fit. The carrier will fit the upper, but watch for compatibility issues with some Colt lowers.

Some older 6920's were manufactured with large hammer and trigger pins which are functional, but not compatible with nearly any other aftermarket triggers. There are a few match triggers for the large pin lowers like the Geissele. If you have the serial number series you can call Colt Customer Service 1-800-962-2658 ext. 1450 and they can advise which pins are in it. All current 6920 are small (.155 standard) pins.

Additionally some 6920 were manufactured with the steel sear block lower. Some carriers are not compatible with this block. Current production 6920 don't use this block.

Some older pre-ban commercial Colts use non-detent large pivot pins (.315) and an IUR upper will not fit on these since they take MILSPEC pivot pins (.250).
 
That's great, I'm in no hurry as I have a stag on the way. I have the IUR on order and was looking at colt lowers on gun brokers . There are pre ban and new lowers (6920) and some others . That are about $550 US. Do you have any future plans to release any CC lowers to the public? Thanks ...... Brian. I'd like to keep it all CC if at all possible.

Sorry, there are no plans for lowers at this time.

No. Colt BCG should work fine.

There were a few oddities out of Colt years ago. The firearms laws, changes in enforcement over the years, bans and lawsuits helped Colt make some interesting configurations. The sear block lower is gone now. It was intended to prevent installation of an auto sear, M16 trigger and disconnect, or DIAS and prevent the use of an unmodified carrier since the top sat higher than the top of the lower. Newer production 6920's don't have those or the large pins. The large pins work just fine - they are just a pain if you want to upgrade or change the trigger mech.
 
Thanks for the replys, I'll wait for CC to put the BCG on the market. I when I'm ready to order a colt lower , I'll need a vendor with an exporting lisense , right?

Thanks, I've got a Holosun RDS on order, and lots of LAR mags. I have a Stag Arms coming tonight, but ultimately I want a colt.
 
I think it's obvious , I'm a new RPAL guy, I'll be getting my first AR tonight, a stag arms. I'll be able to get some knowledge from it, at least I hope so anyway. I've ordered the IUR and my plan is to build a colt and then sell the stag. Anyway thanks to you guys , I think I got a handle on it. It seems the hardest part is going to be, getting a new lower.

I'm curious on why didn't you just start with buying a SA20 or SA15.7 instead of buying the stag?
