Has any body out there received their converted autos back fro the RCMP when they were seized to inspect the conversion ???? I'm still waiting on my FN ..3 years this May...

Saw one that went back to a dealer after "inspection".

M-14 which had 200 rounds through it when they picked it up.

It had been fired to destruction, then returned. It needed new just-about-everything-including-chrome-lined-barrel.

Stories like this make me feel ill...

I waited 14 months to get an MP-5 back from them. I wasn't impressed with their modifications so I ended up parting with it. 3-years seems more than a bit much, I would make some telephone calls.

Its 13 months and counting for my FN FAL I got from Epps. I have the extension number directly to their mouth piece and his email address which I use every two weeks. I called Epps a number of times and my MP Rob Moore a number of times and they talked to the RCMP as well.
Finished paying for the gun in January 2014, RCMP wanted it in February. Went to the RCMP same month, sat in mail room from Feb. to May or June before being entered into their growing list of guns which is in the hundreds. Apparently mine is there because of the serial number which has 12 or 13 numbers.
I get the same old answer possibly another 6 months.

Related question:

there is a converted 12.3 FAL coming up at auction. I assume it will go to through this same process and get stuck in the black hole for months/years?

Ive been making a ton of calls and emails to the RCMP the MPs I dont know who else to call ..i get the same answer from the RCMP ..waiting to verify ...over and over ...we are at thier mercy and they know it....to FALover ...you wont have a problem until you try and transfer one ..after you have paid your hard earned money ..which you wont get back if the gun is declared to easy to convert back to full auto.....by the way apparently they will let you do mods to bring it up to their specs but then you start all over

Light Infantry ..i sent a message to the auction to se if that FAL has been approved by the RCMP ill let you know if/when they reply ..same rifle the RCMP has of mine ..for 3 years

14 months for an AK two years ago. Currently waiting 16 months on a VZ58. Wrote to Blaney about it. Got a generic form letter totally unrelated to my issue.

The mounties are dragging their feet until after the 2015 federal election is over
They are hoping that major changes are made favoring their agenda
After that happens I'm sure the mounties will send you a nice memo in the mail "No, you can't have it back. That rifle is ours now for safe-keeping."

Whenever I have had the same type of response, I immediately write back and pick the letter apart. Use your best high school English teacher imitation to 'red ink' their work. No professional letter writer likes to be corrected by the customer! (Or if they are junior, they are completely accustomed to being corrected.) In fact, I've written to the Minister to call his/her staff's competance into question. It helps remind the person at the top when those underneath are spoiling his reputation. You might not get the answer you need, but it proves that you are actively participating in the democratic process.

My BREN has now been in their custody for a full year. I have contacted my Conservative MP and informed her of what the RCMP are doing. These tactics are reminiscent of the 1989-1992 fight with the OPP over the off shore conversions (now known as 12(3)) that Jim Montag, Ernie Blake, and myself took the OPP and the London Police to court over.

They don't have 100's of guns to look at. I did an FOI while waiting for my AK they get like 12 transfers a year. They just don't care. I know they have the legal right to inspect the 12.3's but this isn't inspecting it is storing.

Just received my C/A Long Branch Sten. 3 years to the day at our infamous lab.

Could anyone imagine taking 3 years to complete a task in a real job.

Either extreme incompetance, inept, or purposefull delay. Either way anywhere other than a government position would result in termination.

Quality people doing a quality job as brought to you by the government and tax payer of Canada.

Wow... you would think there are no real crimes out there for them to work on or solve. Its just really pathetic this obsession and focus on legal firearms owners. Sad, is really the only way to put it.

I have a safe full of these firearms and am truly for the first time considering dewatting the lot ....cant sell them if there going to be seized and there's a lot of cash sitting in that safe being wasted ..i don't enjoy them anymore they never see the light of day except when i take them to display at the gun show ...just to remind firearm owners what we have lost

it makes no sense that these converted guns are so highly regulated and the transfer is all but impossible to a new owner .it would seem that if a present owner is holding the gun legally why would a transfer be any thing but a simple process . this is gun confiscation in a different form .
