RCMP and converted autos

Perhaps a small comfort, but you can write the Minister's office and they do have a requirement to reply. This plus writing to your own MP, who will re-direct the letter to the Minister's office, is probably the best way of expressing your displeasure and keeping the heat on. You are also free to write the PM's office with any complaints that you might have.The RCMP portrays itself to be a service organization which is responsive to the people that it serves (us) and this is a long, long way from adequate performance by any government department.
It would be worth asking the Minister just what this re-inspection requirement is all about and how it is serving the greater public interest. This process is a bureaucratic exercise which does not appear to have any basis in legislation. In reality they are impounding private property for no good reason. The CPC claims to own gun owners as part of their base, but it takes us for granted while tossing us the odd crumb or promise thereof.

I remember a while after the whole reclassification scenario started that OPP firearm officers had to come out and look over mine. They wanted to test fire them to make sure they were converted properly. The guy that came out was nice enough, but he didn't have a clue how to even take the safety off of an FAL. I have one belt feed that ended up with a phone call from the RCMP asking about how the conversion was done. Interestingly enough, the fellow that called was the same fellow named on the paperwork that came with the gun as the officer that inspected it when it was converted.
It's good that all these legal transfers between legal owners are being held up for months. Look at all the children and kittens this is saving! I know every time I walk past my gun room my 12(3)s and 12(5)s are clawing at the door trying to get out and chase people down the street. Whoever is running this program puts the 'arse' in the RCMP.

I wouldn't want to sound overly cynical about this, but no doubt a few promotions have occurred along the line as a result of this bureaucratic connivance to " further advance the cause of firearms safety in Canada". Back in 2006 when they stopped issuing ATTs for the 12(3) category there was a certain ring of triumph in the voices of the people who I tried to engage in a discussion about the why of all of this. But I suppose that we have enjoyed the last 8-9 years of improved safety as a result of 12(3) owners no longer stopping to rob banks or Mac's Milk stores en route to and from the range.

It was created because when these converted autos first flooded the market many were easily converted back .
OMG the humanity.
We still have thousands of FA, 12.2 guns in private hands. Im wondering how the children survive with these in existense?
there are 550 approx. registered full auto collectors and 1100 converted auto collectors , approx. in Canada . they don’t have much of a vote.

Mi amigo had a few gems in gun jail for a long period of time... He had two meetings with the local CPC MP and threatened to turn the donations off... Couple of weeks later they suddenly got sprung!!
I know. That is why the CSSA is so willing to throw us under the bus. Minority numbers.

I believe that if most of us gunnutz could own and shoot CA/FA legally, we would. That would be enough voters to make a difference. Unfortunately no one seems to want to band together. Its almost like we are jealous of those who can own but not shoot these guns which is BS. I own a few dewats legally, so what really is the difference between me and you guys? We both can only look at our guns.

CSSA is throwing prohib owners under the bus how exactly? Its the RCMP that is doing this!
I bought 2 x 12/3 FNs at auction in November 2013. One came directly to me and the other went to the lab. Called last month and they have not looked at it yet. Sold a different 12/3 recently and it went right through. No rhyme nor reason that is apparent.
CSSA has done nothing to thwart the RCMP....
All this history slowly dribbling away until nothing is left
Perhaps the ones that were previously inspected are okay, but those in old collections need 'inspection'.
There must be some reason why some go threw and some don't?

When the "discussions" are had with the "user groups", and the one shooting organization that is at the table, simply will not fight for 12X owners for the sake of keeping the fudd guns. Then calling victory by what they say they accomplished. All the while using the 12X owners as the "throw away" sacrificial minority to "give" the powers that be.
And that is their stance. We make up a small minority and it would look bad if the gun organizations were trying to protect the evil machine gun owners. Happened in '78, and it's happening again. Few more years who will the next group be, for sacrificed?

It would be nice if we had all powerful organizations that could do everything we could wish them to be able to do...
