Precision/Sniper/Tactical

This my Savage 111 in 30-06. Did the work myself on this one. A Shilen bull barrel, Choate stock, Rifle Basix 2 trigger. Leopold VX 3 6.5-20 optics. I have a 40 minute rail that I'll be putting on when I stretch this out to the 1760 mark. Thanks to Jerry at Mystic for the components. :) Bug holes at a hundred thanks to the stock and trigger.

I know what you mean. When I was planning this build, I considered other cartridges. The 300 WM, for one. I noticed that the .308 Winchester was a common build also. The thing they all had in common was the .308 bullet diameter. So, why not the 30-06. Good brass available. Wide variety of bullets, all common and easy to find. Lots of data out there. German Salazar a well known shooter has lots of great advice.

It was just a matter of having the barrel built to the specs I wanted. No more or less expensive than any other cartridge.

I'm very happy with the results.

It's a 1979 production heavy barrel 700 BDL in. 308 Win. Glass bedded including bottom metal. Barrel is floated. The scope is a Leupold M8 fixed 20x with target dot reticle circa 1977 according to Leupold. I am very lucky to have recently been gifted this rifle.

I have not worked up a load as I cannot find my .308 dies, so I took 15 rounds that I had for a M305 (light load, 39 grains Varget under a 178 AMAX) and shot some groups. After 1 sighter I shot a 0.104" group followed by three groups all around .5" (All shot at 100 meters) Can't wait until I work up a load.

Its a GAP Crusader chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. 26" Bartlien bbl, mcm A5 stock. Topped off with a Steiner 5-25x56 scope w/MSR reticle. Badger Ordnance USMC rings. Details of the Crusader model can be found on GAP's website, only deviations on my rifle from the base model is an adjustable version of the A5 stock, longer bbl and caliber.

The sling is a FTW bungee sling with a Tactical Tailor shoulder pad. Stock pack is made by Tactical Operations.
 
Here's my remington aac-sd in a stock with a vortex hst 6-24x50 bipod, badger bottom metal. Just waiting on muzzle break and Calvin elite trigger. Pm me I'm in the market for both!!!!!
