Just messing around a bit with an old Cooey 840 that was given to me. It lived the last dozen or so years behind a hot-water tank, so pretty this thing was not. Being a free gun (and resale of $100) I figured I'd try something completely different. If you are a gun purist who only likes traditional blue finishes, find a different thread now because you might cry
I debated spray paint to refinish this thing, but then I decided to go a route I'd never seen. I used the same vinyl wrap they use to wrap cars and trucks. I figured if it survives on a car in the wind, rain, heat of summer and cold of winter, it might survive on an old single-shot 12 gauge. And heck, if it doesn't, I peel it off and I'm left with an original gun. Once I decided on vinyl, the debate for colour started. Hundred of colours and patterns available. So many camo styles were tempting, but not unique enough for me. So I found an iridescent vinyl. The pictures don't do it justice, but imagine the bottom of a CD and that's the colour. It's my first time ever using vinyl wrap, so I have a couple bubbles and wrinkles, but not too bad
Before I get to the pictures, let me just answer some questions comments I know are coming
1) Why? Why not?
2) You wrecked the gun! It's easily peeled off with a hair dryer and rubbing alcohol so, nope I didn't
3) I think it looks ugly as sin Then I advise you do your own guns differently
4) It won't last, you've wasted your time I need things to entertain me when it's -20c outside, so it's not time wasted
5) That's not traditional, therefor stupid Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder
I forgot to take "Before" pics again, but here is the receiver before vinyl

Receiver Done (Different angles to try and get colour change on camera)

Complete Gun
