I just finished glamming up the Italian walnut stock on my M305 with Tru-Oil.
I know it's not supposed to be all shiny, but it really makes the features in the wood pop out and brings a smile to my face.

Damn that is some ###y right there
^^^ Really really nice. That's going to be my summer project. (but on an SA Supermatch).Good work!
Odd shot - Love those walnut stocks. Classic!
Ya, Oddshot, nice , very nice

Thank you, thank you. I'm really happy with the way it turned out

WOW! Is that the factory Norc wood stock? Damn, that's classy looking.
Whoa.. Details on this ###iness plse

Trini: that's not exactly the factory Norc stock. It is the "deluxe Italian walnut stock" that recent Norc's have been available in recently as an option.
The "original" Norc wood stock that the M305's came in many years ago was apparently cheap, soft wood, commonly referred to here as "chu-wood"

ShortRnd: Thanks! Here are some details.
- M305 in "deluxe Italian walnut" was purchased new from SFRC http://www.theammosource.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_24_80&products_id=4561
The walnut stock was beautiful, but a little too dark for my personal tastes. So I refinished it myself (learned on the internet, made some mistakes) by stripping the existing finish, and then applying 10 layers of Tru-Oil over 3 weeks. I lightly sanded with 600 grit and buffed with ###X synthetic steel wool between coats (except the last coat).
- Springfield Armory flash-suppressor, rear sight and front blade sight
- The 5 round box magazine is also from Springfield Armory and referred to as their "sporter 5 round mag" (a 10 round sized mag restricted to 5 rounds).
- Sadlak Op Rod Spring Guide with Wolff Op Rod Return Spring
- A.R.M.S. #18 scope mount with Burris Signature Zee rings
- Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 3-9x 40 scope

I was wondering if you had stripped it down first or not? I managed to grab Mod Dswiys' Italian Walnut Stock when he listed it & had been giving some thought to doing the same. Might send ya a PM for more details.

Your list of mods mirror mine except I added in a USGI Gas System and opted for a M14.ca CASM II mount. Well played sir!

I did end up stripping it down. I tried lightly sanding it first but the existing finish was too thick and somewhat gummy.

Here's my Norc finally built and done.Had been on the fence about getting a Norc for years, thankfully I'm a part of the club now. A quick visit back in Nov to Barneys" Mon night clinic made sure everything was as should & he suggested I buy lottery tickets, cause I got a good one.
