Svt already had 20 Rd mags.
There were several prototypes of 15, 20 and even more, but none of them was mass produced and issued with rifle. I think there's only one picture with 15rd on Finn capture SVT that is not clear what the hell is that. So I would't say "SVT had 20rd mag". But if you know something I don't I would be glad to see it, please share.

15? Apart from the drum above, I've only ever seen 10 rounders. Please show us some pictures. I know I'd love to see a 15 rounder.
On pg's 45-47 in Chumak there are photos of trials 20 and 25 round mags as well as the drum. The author quotes results of trials in terms of frequency of stoppages and I get the impression from my "translation" that the increased upward pressure of the top cartridge on the bolt was enough to reduce the reliability. It does appear larger mags were tested in combat so you'd think there would be photos or the odd survivor. Also of interest, the book describes extensive efforts to modify the SVT with a fixed 10 round mag ala SKS. Again, translation is a problem but I get the impression Tokarev himself was a proponent of this.

SO I found actually two real life pics with long mags, one in The Book with Czech batallion and another one with Finn capture SVT-38.
And of course let's not forget about field made hi-cap mags, I already posted the picture some time ago.

Horilka sure straightened us out on the 20 round mag thing. Don't ever say something doesn't exist because you haven't seen it. For example the wind exists but you can't see it. Sure it makes stuff move but you can't see it or hold it, but its real.

it looks ;ike it should be able to fit 15... maybe it is only 10, 5 rounds only go 1/4 of the way down the mag.

Is there any chance that's an AVS-36 magazine? Do they fit an AVT/SVT or can they be adapted?

The fact its a rimmed cartilage has pretty much nothing to do with stoppages provided the magazine is designed properly. Look up the Huot Automatic Rifle or the Farquhar-Hill rifle. Both semi-autos in a rimmed cartilage (.303 British), which functioned very reliably with a drum magazine. I have never understood the aversion to rimmed ammunition people have, provided the firearm is designed properly you won't have any issues with them.
Too bad there isn't enough space in front of the trigger to put a DP28 pan mag under it
Seen one modified for the mag a few years back. Stupidly I didnt take a picture so cant remember what had been done apart from cutting the wood forend completely to get it to fit. Never saw it fire so no idea on if it jammed.
