You guys have seen the marinecote electroless nickel gone on parts of the mariners? Was the steel rusting in those areas? Were they quite old shotguns or somewhat recent (the marinecoat has changed over the years). I was under the impression that many US forces were using the Mossberg Mariners partly because the finish is nearly indestructible.
A few days ago I enquired about
http://www.wanstallsonline.com/optima-marine-guard-12-gauge-optmrn1220s.html which I suppose it the gun you are talking about. The guy at the shop said for defence he wouldnt recommend it, to take a Mossberg mariner instead.
http://thathuntingstore.ca/ sells it for 289.99$ and its barrel is made of nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel, Aircraft alloy receiver.

I tried to find more info on the Scorpio PA01 Pump Tactical Shotgun 12GA 12.5" Brl Nickel. For example are the internal parts protected as well, etc. I had no luck. Do they even have a real website or just
http://www.scorpiofirearms.com/
Should I thrust a Hatsan Optima or a Scorpio with my life against a charging Grizzly?

I need a reliable gun that will not rust in daily rain and with zero maintenance. "murdoc" if you're reading feel free to comment as well
