I know many of us are using the M2 or the versamax for 3 gun, action shotgun, I have both, but is anyone using the SBE2, from what I understand sbe2 is just the M2 in 3.5inch chamber? or am I wrong?

so same things as the versamax then, you are getting 7,8rds of 2 3/4 inch shells with a magazine ext so 5x 3.5 inch.Yes some guys are and I think they work well. Can be fussy with low recoil slugs tho.
good info what mag ext are you using? Nordic? is it the same as the M2 mag ext?I'm running SBE2 for IPSC Shotgun. The gun action is similar to m2, but parts are different. E.g. m2 has solid receiver and in sbe2 top receiver cover is part of the barrel, sbe2 has longer lifter, but on the other hand it is exact the same lifter as Versamax has... Subjectively gun cycles a bit slower than m2, probably because of the longer bolt travel.

SBE2 is a gas gun and the M2 in inertia gun. (I was recently informed, I thought both were inertia)
Inertia or recoil spring?
There shouldn't be a need to replace the inertia spring unless you have very very high round count.
There isn't a difference between the M2 and SBE inertia spring in the bolt carrier.
I use a SBE II with 26" barrel for 3-gun and although it is not the latest fad gun, I think it is the perfect gun. The front stock is already relieved for quick reloads, it has a generous mag well to feed the larger shells, and is the fastest 3.5" autoloader out there. At least according to Benelli propaganda and Tom Knapp. I welded the prongs on the carrier, added the larger buttons and bolt handle and extended mag tube from tac star. It is not as gucci as Nordic but works perfectly. If you plan on ghost loading, you need to weld up the little notch on the bottom of the bolt. That gives you 7+1+1. That was put there after 1991 to prevent duck hunters from ghost loading an extra round. I can post a couple pictures with permission.
Other than allowing ghost loading, how does this change the operations/features that come from factory?
So the notch shown in the first bolt pic is stock and the second picture is where you have filled and filed it flush?
