So I've been thru just about every mag out there, please suggest more for me to try!
Note: the rifle is fully built and utterly reliable using the ruger 10 round rotary mags.. and I'm using normal round nose ammo that is friendly to everything. the sharp cone stuff jams in everything.
I've tried all these mags with Peters HV plain round nose, Remington Yellowjacket (sharp cone nose), and American Eagle HV round nose hollowpoints.
The SR22 has been tested both with factory bolt and the new titanium/chrome Power custom match bolt. It is equipped with a timney trigger as well. It is using the factory charging handle and spring currently.
I got a champion (clear plastic, steel head/lips) 30 rounder (double stack) for $32 from P&D and it was UTTER CRAP it never fed a single round properly... the follower is plastic and gets stuck down inside so youre stuck with gaps and no rounds fed... and you gotta shake/tap to get the rounds out.
Got a Battledyne 25 round (AR Style) mag from Hical.. also total crap.. fits kinda loose... spring is so weak and crappy the last 2 rounds simply refuse to lift into the chamber. jams about 3 times per load... sometimes 4...occasionally if you turn the mag upside down and give it a gentle shake, four to six rounds fall out. Looks ###y as hell but total garbage.
Butler creek 25 round steel lip mag (from Phoenix) also failure, sometimes tries to feed two at a time, practically spits the rounds up, then decides randomly that its not going to feed anymore.... causing a dry fire.
GSG 110 round drum mags (Two of these, 1 from phoenix, 1 from Cabelas) both jam frequently, but mainly with the hard cone nose ammo...however any ammo jams them up, carefully loaded the proper way even.
Inconsistent feeding causes dry fires and double feeds... sometimes its not pushing the rounds up high enough to get into the chamber, other times two seems to spit out... One of the mags is now basically locked up... coilspring wont reset properly... some rounds magically become VERTICALLY LOADED in the neck below and above perfectly normal rounds.... requires careful unloading and resetting. The other is more reliable... barely.
The battledyne, and champions, even when properly loaded, do not hold the top rounds high enough for the bolt to catch the round, it sails right over them, as little as 10-15% of the rounds tail end is exposed, compared to almost 40% on the ruger rotary mag... it simply cannot grab reliably.
What garbage.
Can anyone make suggestions? or am i resorting to the triple-stack attachment for three 10 rounder ruger mags.... high capacity is the reason for this thing.
The firearm functions flawlessly on any ammo with factory mags... Ive never had a stovepipe, multi feed, jam, or anything in the gun... and I use froglube... so its like a magical machine when being fed properly.
Help!
