I take them apart and clean them with a clp (gunzilla) and every once in a while give them a squirt to keep the springs lubed. I do still get the odd jame but few.
don't think it's an issue with the spring tension but I will give it a shot.

Ya ,I hear ya ,I tryed them all, except for the stripper clip, and the only one I could get any sense out of ,were the BC mags. I've seen the bx25 in action and it ran just like its little brother.Nope! After trying every mag i could get my hands (purchased or borrowed) on i wasnt going to risk $100 on trying it out. Ill just stick with whats proven. 3 Rotary 10 rounders on a tri coupler.
In the end, I solved my general 10/22 problems. The ruger never comes out of the safe anymore. Problem solved. Piece of crap.
I tried BC Hot Lips, Steel Lips, the HC3R mags, (two of each to make sure I didn't just get a bad one), and all of them were jam-o-matics, even after going through all the "break in" voodoo that gets suggested here and there.
The factory 10 rounders worked great, and the pair of GSG 110 round drums worked flawlessly as well.
In the end, I solved my general 10/22 problems by getting a Marlin Papoose and a Marlin 795. The ruger never comes out of the safe anymore. Problem solved. Piece of crap.
Ruger must have patented the specific dimensions of the bx mags and other manufacturers can only come close but never duplicate the exact feeding angle, spring tension etc. Thats why they don't all run the same.. but there is nothing wrong with the gun itself.
Unless it came NIB with overcast splash in the receiver that needed to be dremmeled out for it to even ccycle, the barrel channel in the stock was cut by the world's dullest router and would draw blood and leave 1/2 splinters if you ran your finger down it, a barrel that IDK WTF is wrong with it, and won't shoot a good group no matter what ammo I try.
And before you go all "blame the hooter, not the gun" - I have several .22s that shoot well and actually hit what you point at. The 10/22 is not among them. It is junk, each and every part, and I got sick of trying to make it less junk, so it sits at the back of the cabinet and I use .22s that are reliable and accurate.
They definitely don't build them like they use to. I have a 70s vintage and a new off the shelf 2014 one and you can see how cheap the new ones are manufactured. The newer one I got shoots good (maybe got lucky). I am only assuming yours is a "newer" one. Wonder if ruger would do anything for you warranty wise if you tried.
Tactical Innovations ti25 aluminum or composite set up correctly with cci blazer runs like a sewing machine on mine.
