CANCELLED-AFRA Precision Rifle Match in 2015

I too would prefer a more practical course of fire. I think to gain interest at this stage, all shots would have to be indicated as AFRA doesn't let anyone but long standing F-class shooters access to practice, but if the course of fire included snaps/positional/etc I think there would be more interest. I'd also prefer the option of a higher round count.

With all of the electronic targets out there, and the range available, a match centered around positional slow fire would also be cool.

I would be glad to help put on such a match.

I 100% agree, the amount of shooters you could cycle through the stages would be quick due to electronic targets, you could afford higher round counts for each stage as a result, nice idea!

At least for the first couple times using a positional course of fire, there may not be a bunch of people prepared for 300m kneeling, but with the e-targets, after a couple rounds they would be. Then 4, 5, etc.

Since it is positional, 'setup time' is also neglegable as setup is really to the line, remove flag, load and make ready.

I think the low sign up numbers could be because the Alberta Poker Rally is the same weekend. I think you should change the days so I can come (cause I have to go to my sister in law's wedding this one...)

I think this is a good start to getting some more practical type matches going. I would definitely go if I wasn't previously booked.

That's a good point.

I'm curious if there will be any APRA F-Class stuff this year. The website doesn't show any matches. I can't justify getting an APRA membership again if there aren't any matches. I do appreciate the hard work the APRA guys put in the last few years with the fclass stuff.

email afratargetshooters@gmail.com and I'll send you a 2015 match schedule. Jay

Off topic ... but some of the best F-Class shooters in Canada (IMHO) reside with the AFRA. Yeah - there be matches!!!

The match was originally posted on Dec 20th 2014 and after 4 months we had only 1 entry, which tells me no one is interested. We'll just have a regular short range club match.

Why don't you guys host Service Rifle matches? You have the facility and clearly the range isn't being utilized every weekend for competitions and practice.
There is interest with that type of shooting with younger generation shooters and they in turn provide a good source for growth into fullbore and F-Class shooting as they get old, fat, lazy and out of shape. Assuming you don't decide to kick them out of the club down the road, they are probably more than likely to stick around if you treat them half decently.
