Tradex has a large selection of Schultz and Larson .22s again...

No idea Kurgan. Hopefully someone else more knowlegeable will chime in.
Thanks Turbo you were right! I finally got a chance to start taking it apart n clean her.. The front sight dial was loose but now it holds tightly on the insert.

On to my trigger. Anyone know if this is an M33 or later trigger?

That's the same trigger as mine, which based on the serial number list, is probably an M58. It has the same front sight as yours, but a different rear sight. Mine also has the target style stock. I haven't cleaned up my stock to see how the wood looks, but might have to. I have an M69 in 6.5x55 that cleaned up pretty nicely. Not quite as nice as yours though.

It's hard to tell if that's walnut or a very nice piece of European Beachwood.

It's for sure no European Beachwood and I'm 99.98% sure that it is not beech.

BTW, very nice work and wood!

Well I think I'm done now.... Have 3 of the M70's and 3 of the M77's. I think that's enough...
The stock on this one looked pretty good, and even though the bolt knob and trigger had some rust, it cleaned up very well. Couple hours soaking in evaporust and a bit of polishing and you can't tell there was any rust at all anymore.

I got out today and tried more ammo.
7 different brands/types were tested.
All shooting was at 25 meters.
Weather was cool and calm.

I'm very impressed with the Winchester Dynapoint GT Target ammo (Bulk). Figures that I'm on my last box
The American Eagle ammo was 2 different-looking types. One was copper-plated and came on 40-round boxes, the other was un-plated and came in 50-round boxes.
The Federal Automatch came in the 325-round bulk box. The Federal Champion was in the 525-round bulk pack.

All groups were 5 rounds. The bottom group was shot first in all cases. Middle group was second, top group was last one shot. The rifle was not cleaned or the bore wiped between the different loads.

THe solid black circles are 1 7/8" diameter, the circles with white centers are 2 1/8" diameter

I got the rifle in the mail today. It is good, as advertised. It is possible to remove the front sight by removing a screw. I have not test fired the gun but I expect it will be good. Mine has a good grain if I ever decide to refinish it.

For anyone who hasn't used Evaporust, it is one of the miracles of recent technology.

Highly recommended.

It's pretty sweet, but will remove bluing and parkerizing. Depends on what you need to do with it...for in the white metal it's the bomb. If you had an old milsurp with a rusty bore it would work better then anything else....
May as well show how good of a job it does. This was the rust on the bolt knob and trigger. I'll get the after pic up shortly.

And after the evaporust and a bit of a brushing.

You inspired me to see what was under the years of dings and grime of mine, so I steamed the dents out with my wife's iron, gave it a quick sanding, and here it is after a couple coats of boiled linseed oil. Not as nice as the one you got, but not too shabby either. Makes me wonder what my next one will be like.

My second one arrived today. Its a M77 with weaver #55 scope bases. Extractor was rusted in place, bit of rust on the bolt. Wood is as was described so no surprises there. Sides of the weaver bases are banged up so going to get a new set to replace the old. Will finish the metal cleaning tonight. Still trying to decide on what finish to put on the dry stocks. If any. All the hold down screws were loose again. So people, don't forget to check. And please use the proper hollow ground screwdrivers. Nothing buggers up the screws quicker then your ordinary flat screwdriver.
