Sold all restricteds and I am out of the game.

I have a friend who got rid of his Restricted's, then bought new ones. Then he sold all his guns, then he bought new ones. Unsure what he's up to now or if he's in a buying or selling mood... but selling and buying new guns afterwards cost him quite a bit of money.

He did the same thing with a guitar that he never learned to play... sold it to a pawn shop, wanted it back and then had to pay substantially more to get it back :runaway:

I'm willing to bet that in a little while you may reconsider your choice and start buying pistols again. I love the fact that I have about 10 choices when I go to the range. The same guy I was talking about only had one rifle for a while and was envious when he went with me. He was too cheap to buy any other ammo so he didn't get to fire many of mine.

Unsure if he thought he was in competition with me in buying guns or something, he is pretty weird in that respect. He gets bored very easily.

$5 a year?? Lucky you. In Saskatoon you are looking at a few hundred $$ at the wildlife federation.
 
To the OP.
This is not unusual. Many of us have gone through this only to return and re-buy what we lost.
I've done it several times due to financial reasons, but am old enough now to afford and keep what I want.

People get worn down by all the BS. And now I've just about had it. Yeah they'll win. They have inexhaustible resources.
And they do whatever they want, however they want, and whenever they want to do it. We're not fighting on a level playing field.
A couple of instances are: High River and the Quebec LGR. Oh yeah, and the SA and the 858 fiasco, and so on and so on....

Sorry to hear, but you have reason enough for you and that's all there is to that. No one should be calling people out for giving up, they have every right. They are not on here trying to convince others to give up as well, just sharing their thoughts and concerns and why they are leaving the restricted firearms ownership realm. Doesn't mean they are anti anything, it's just not for them any more.

So PLEASE folks, stop with the quips and snipes, accept their choices, accept they are not your choices, and carry on. Calling them out and admonishing them on this board does no good.
 
good for the OP. I to, got tired of the "play pen"and all the restrictions. So I went non-restricted, and its the best move I've made ! There are tons of other guns you can own and trot through the bushes with.
here's mine............NO regrets, and no locked boxes and red tape,..YIPPIII

Exactly why I don't want to try handguns. Might like it too much, then you get that itch.

I'm not sure how you read my comments as somehow capitulating to Wendy Cukier and the Coalition for Gun Control .. but have at er if that's how you read it, though it is far from reality. I'm also not sure how Wendy Cukier is even relevant in this discussion, seems like any time anyone says or does something other than goose step to the no compromise movement that we're somehow irrelevant or even anti gun .. childish really and as I stated, it does no good for anyone.

Consider the following :

1) The end-state of the Canadian gun control scheme is the abolition of civilian firearm ownership;
2) The embodiment of the Canadian gun control scheme is an (alleged) human known by the moniker of Windy Wendy;
3) This gentleman (among others) has decided that dealing with the gun control scheme is too much of a pain in the arse and proceeds to get rid of his restricted firearms because of the red tape (ATT and club membership et al.)(Wendy has won);
4) This gentleman (among others) decides 5 years later that renewing his PAL is too much of a pain in the arse and proceeds to get rid of his non-restricted firearms because of the red tape involved in renewing the PAL (Wendy has won);
5) End-state achieved - this gentleman no longer owns firearms (Wendy has won).

If you are going to post that you have gotten rid of all of your pistols and revolvers in the pistols and revolvers section of a site called CanadianGunNutz because you have let Wendy win, you are bound to get called out.

Oh, and Wendy has won. :wave:
 
Well the only guy whose opinion counts is the bum you see in the mirror when you're shaving in the morning. And if that guy isn't having fun - sell 'em off, get out of the game and go do something else that makes you happy.

But otherwise it's a fair comment, IMHO. If you are selling off your guns because some clot headed old woman or beta male liberal politician out east is hassling you to death with onerous laws and harassing you with asnine legislation...? Boy oh boy - that leaves a rancid taste in my mouth. I wouldn't do it myself. I am a law abiding citizen, the law belongs to We The People and not They The Politicians ... and if they want to get stupid about it they can shove their gun control laws altogether and I will quietly buy my guns off the black market.

I love my pistols and the shooting sports...but I love flipping the bird at the liberals and gun grabbers too.

lol Still not buying it, and I highly doubt Mrs. Cukier is saying, "Yay, I won." ... maybe if the individual gave up all of their firearms and let their PAL/RPAL expire with no interest in renewing. Even then, I wouldn't give Wendy that amount of credit. Sure it's what she has lobbied for but she isn't the one signing on the dotted line and screwing us over.

I put off getting my R for years, however, I go to the range to shoot anyhow.. so it made sense to open the doors too experience
other options, glad I did.
