Purchased a Norinco m14 a few weeks ago, I love this gun! When it works...sometimes when I shoot it itll shoot two rounds, sometimes it wont fire at all, sometimes it wont eject. Any ideas whats wrong? Ive tried all sorts of different ammo too

First thing to do is make sure you are not babying the trigger. grab the stock and pull the trigger like a man...his is not a bolt gun.

This platform is infamous for this if it is limp wristed.

CLEAN it, LUBE it...read he stickies

Ya man. You have to completely disassemble that rifle and follow what the sticky's say. These new norc rifles are just slapped together (from the ones I've looked over at shops) so it is a requirement that you go through the steps if you want that rifle to fire clean

When you strip it down, make sure to inspect your bolt and firing pin closely as well. Make sure your firing pin looks good and moves properly and bolt is clean.

make sure it passes the hammer follow test!!!
(part of what's otherwise known as the function test)

See TonyBen's video at 46:05 minutes:

is yer gas plug loose?
did you clean out the packing oils from inside gas system parts?
and check all the stuff others have mentioned too
is it new from a store?
might just want to return it for exchange

You need to do a tare down and clean it and grease it.

It is packed in a "preservative" much like SKS are packed in cosmoline.

This is not a lubricant.

Do all your assembly tests.

READ THE STICKIES.....ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clean it for sure. I thoroughly clean every new gun and check it for defects while I'm at it. I'd hate to find out the bore was clogged with Cosmo the first time I fired it.

Cleaning may help with the ejection and failure to fire issues. Packing gunk may be causing the rifle to short stroke and/or stopping movement of the firing pin. As other have said, doubling might be due to limp wristing.

Let us know how it works out after a good strip, clean and lube.

Why do people not clean there guns or inspect them when they buy them. I wish this was introduced in the firearms course

New gun owner :/ didn't think this was common practice and tear down of equipment I'm not fairly familiar with makes me nervous. Nothing scares me more than the idea of permanently messing up a 500 dollar gun.

To add, I did notice that there was a brown rustic looking liquid scattered around the gun that looks a lot like cosmoline on the SKS, I honestly had no idea what it was or what its purpose was (stupid I know) but perhaps a good cleaning will fix this thing up.

You have to tear it down eventually. Do it right away while you still have warranty. lol

Always tear down your stuff and clean it when you first get it, doesn't matter if it's used or new. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS

Its not common for your average gun. Military guns aren't. Surplus is always packed in something, so are your M305's.

If you were to buy a M1A, it probably is not an issue.

Nothing? How about shooting a rifle whose barrel might be full of cosmoline????

Inspect and clean (lube if required) all firearms before you use them.

I bought it new from the store, shot it twice thiught maybe the ammo was the issue but it wasnt. i havent stripped or cleaned it yet

The guys are giving you good advice, you have to strip the rifle down, clean & then properly lube it. Keep in mind that you have to grease several spots on the M14, you don't want to run it 'dry'...

And, congrats on the purchase! I thoroughly enjoy my M14 and I know you will to once you sort these little details out! The stickies in this forum are great info, time to get reading!

Cheers
Jay
