I was looking at a Russian SKS in a Tapco polymer stock and it did feel pretty solid, except for the buttstock. It was wobbling all over the place. I'm just wondering if it's a commercial/milspec AR15 tube and I could buy a Magpul CTR and throw it on there. I hate wobbly stocks like that. The rest of the Tapco stuff seemed half way decent.

Any issues/complaints with the Tapco'd SKS setup?

I was considering the ATI Strikeforce SKS at Wanstall's, but they sold them out. I guess I'm looking for an SKS with polymer furniture.

I felt the Tapco was very rigid and unnatural feeling when shooting.
The pistol grip needs modding too so the user doesn't have to remove the screw over and over again when field stripping.
The stock tube is commercial spec, however the ATI and Magpul stocks I tried on it didn't quite fit and lock properly at each position.
The strikfore stock isn't much better, things just become more apparent once out shooting.
I liked the ATI Monte Carlo stock, although I felt it was too heavy for what it was.

You only need to remove the grip if your going to pull the trigger group. I put several different stocks on mine when i had it. For the life of me i cant remember if its milspec or com. Contact tapco. A ctr would be awesome cause it has the secondary lock. Mine is rock solid on my xcr. Ati stocks are junk. What do you expect fir $89? Lol. Cheap flimsy and usless. Tapco is the best for user friendly aftermarket stocks. If you want the best stock its the archangel stock. I got mine from hicaliber. Hands down awesomness but it does require removing the rifle from the stock for cleaning. That turns most people off.

I've been looking at the Archangel stock but the $200 price tag always stops me. Is it worth that much money and does it transform the SKS into a more modern rifle? I don't really like the look of the banana mags to tell you the truth. Would rather have the original internal magazine.

I don't have the wobble in my Tapco so can't help there - it's pretty solid. I do find now that I can adjust the LOP it's much more comfortable to shoot, which makes it more fun. As far as looks go, it's ok but it does significantly improve the useability for me...that's a win.

+1 on the Archangel too, but the cost is more than I paid for the rifle...seems crazy.

When i asked TAPCO about the tubes they told me that if it was smooth, it was a milspec tube, if it is dimpled it is a commercial spec, they made models with either at different points in the production.

I think its build quality is more than worth it. You can run the factory mag in any of the stocks you dont have to go detachable mags if you prefer stripper clips. I had zero issues with my tapco, my only issues is the gas tube hand guard. They should not put a rail on it that is very miss leading. You cant mount an optic on it and expect it to hold zero. I went with the AA afterwards because of the better construction, awesome buttstock and the biggest reason. Its so damn ###y!

I don't like mine either. But, when I bought it that way, I thought it looked "cool". It shoots very well, but it is known as the "rattle-trap". It is the fugliest gun I own.

If you're not looking for stock LOP adjustablility, I think it's ATI that makes a polymer Monte Carlo stock for the SKS, and it's much cheaper (around $100-120 ish).

This one? Looks like it has a more pronounced pistol grip area and recoil pad. Is it cut for a bayo?

This is mine a few years back in the Monte Carlo stock. I liked everything about it, except the weight. The stock is long and dense. Making it rather heavy compared to most all my other rifles. I found fatigue set in after a few hours of wielding.

My tapco intrafuse works fine, no rattle, no problems, and makes it fit me much better. Wish I could post a picture but I don't know how unless I upload it to the Internet and put in the URL

That is a nice stock ^. Is it cut for a bayo or does the bayo need to be removed?

Dont even bother with tapco or ati, go for the archangel. Everything else will feel like second best once you get it into an archangel stock.... and they have a great warrenty system.
