I still, to this day, don't know why I sold my T3 Sporter! That is one rifle I wouldn't mind replacing in 6.5x55. Nice rifle / stock idea, don't sell it!

Thanks. I got lucky when I bought the stock a few year back. More Grey / Green / Ash than orange.

I just found out bass pro has the hunter in 243 left hand today. I'm very tempted to go scoop it up before anyone else does. Anyone care to comment on the hunter model? Love it?

It's the blued model, non threaded.

I think I got caught up in some hype searching for the stainless model. But if I'm realistic with myself, I keep pretty good care of my stuff so I think any weather protection gained from stainless would be negligible.

Blue will be just fine ark. You can make your new rifle weatherproof by waxing all parts of the stock and barrel (NON ABRASIVE WAX). Also on really wet days tape the end of your barrel with electrical tape or use a small balloon. I am not crazy- internetz search and stuff on the subject and your gun will look great for the rest of your life.

Will having a good coating of frog lube do the trick as well?

Wouldn't be my first choice. I've had mould grow in froglube.

I'll play. T3 Lite in 30-06. I highly recommend the DNZ game reaper mount. I have my 3-9x40 bushnell in a low mount and it is ROCK solid.

I've only ever done CLP once a year or so, and my wood/blued 1895 has never had a speck of rust. Lots and lots of hikes with that rifle in vile weather.
