Recoil looked fine. My HS50 recoils about the same if shooting it with minimal support using a bipod on a hard surfaced bench. You have to also realize that's an AR15 lower with PRS stock for AR15. Plus it doesn't look like Tootall adjusted LOP on the stock for himself. Anyone who has shot a rifle with a too long or too short LOP can verify that even out of a 308 you will get far more jump and perceived recoil than you do with a LOP that matches the shooter. I've seen this a few times and it caught me a bit off guard the first time. A properly fitted stock is for more than just comfort.

Recoil looked normal compared to the HS50 and PGW 50 rifles. This is also another reason why NF scopes are so popular on 50s. 4.0" eye relief at all magnifications.

I like my HS50 but these uppers look cool. Way better looking than the Canstar 50.

Why is recoil a concern for a single shot bolt action rifle. Not like you're worried about rapid fire lol. Plus you're shooting a 50! What fun is that if it doesn't kick a little?

Looks like tootall beat me to it but there are a couple of factors. Scope bite is definitely one of them. Especially when you have a 50 and want all your friends to try it. Second is that not everyone wants a separated shoulder. I like feeling recoil as much as the next guy but when you're throwing down more than ten rounds in a couple of minutes it's a little more fun when it doesn't feel like you're constantly getting kicked in the shoulder by a psycho Spetsnaz.

And a video later on.
Still loading...

For anyone that's curious that complete setup there all in is about $4000

Which is really really inexpensive for a 50 BMG with optics and bipod etc etc. That LRA bipod is not cheap but highly recommended for any 50BMG shooter.

One thing to consider, AR aluminum lower are not made to handle such recoil and will deform over time. Patrick Sweeney made an article about that in Guns and ammo or AR15 Magazine. So avoid dropping that in your Noveske (or any expensive) lower.

Getting one of these with an NR lower ... awesome, this will be tons of fun, if not hard on the pocket book. I hope the accuracy potential is better than what we've seen posted here, and I think it is.

So with the 80% lowers. What if you had one and tigged a solid block into the mag well and finished it, Would it still be restricted and would it strengthen the lower enough to help with problems later on?
