DA50 .50BMG upper!!!???

Very interesting, for sure, but I think I'll stick with my Barrett. Mine is a pussycat compared to what the video showed. Unless everything after the shot was in slow motion it appeared to be very uncomfortable to shoot.

Hopefully this will mean cheaper and increased ammo supply. Not the opposite.

Props to Canada Ammo for making this happen. Always great to see big additions to the gun market.

Recoil looked fine. My HS50 recoils about the same if shooting it with minimal support using a bipod on a hard surfaced bench. You have to also realize that's an AR15 lower with PRS stock for AR15. Plus it doesn't look like Tootall adjusted LOP on the stock for himself. Anyone who has shot a rifle with a too long or too short LOP can verify that even out of a 308 you will get far more jump and perceived recoil than you do with a LOP that matches the shooter. I've seen this a few times and it caught me a bit off guard the first time. A properly fitted stock is for more than just comfort.

Recoil looked normal compared to the HS50 and PGW 50 rifles. This is also another reason why NF scopes are so popular on 50s. 4.0" eye relief at all magnifications.

I like my HS50 but these uppers look cool. Way better looking than the Canstar 50.

Why is recoil a concern for a single shot bolt action rifle. Not like you're worried about rapid fire lol. Plus you're shooting a 50! What fun is that if it doesn't kick a little?

Are any range results in yet? if it isnt sub moa is it worth it? I think 1moa would be my personal max before I would entertain the purchase

Alright before I post a group there is a few things to remember here. We are shooting at the only range thats 50 approved in the area and its limited to 100 yards. So take bullet stabilization for a 50 BMG projectile at only 100 yards. Additionally the two below groups were fired after a dozen shots were made sighting in so not cold bore.

This group was by TooTall using his factory reloads from military pull downs.

This is my 7 shot grouping of my personal reloads tailored to my PGW LRT-3. 750 GR Hornady AMAX projectiles. The lowest shot was my last shot and I totally jerked the shot. Flame on if you like, I don't really care.

Conclusion. Well I won't claim to be one that is a precision shooter and given I have no idea what the barrel twist rate is. I believe that with some time developing loads this could be a 1.5-2 MOA rifle at best. Which for the price point really is not that bad considering what a name brand 50 on the market sells for.

Bit disappointing in the precision department but at $1600 it'd still make a fun conversation piece and a real expensive way to annoy the guy next to ya.

I will wait for more range report before I make my final decision. If all everybody's is capable of getting out of this upper is a 2.5-3.5 moa well sadly I am out. 50 bmg is way to expensive to be all over the place. But I mean unless its a scrap barrel with the worst ammo , I mean it's a bolt action how much can it suck?

But I stay optimistic if this thing can do close to 1.5 with pmc of federal tac I will be getting one.

Scope bite.
I've been cut above the eyebrow twice by Condomboy's 50.
It hasnt caught him yet, so we must hold it a bit differently, but it is something to be aware of.
Everyone that fired the DA50 yesterday and today felt the recoil was fine. Its there, certainly, but its not punishing.
Probably due to the really efficient muzzle brake. I was standing to the side and was hit by a wall of blast. Emmer has video of a pop bottle on the next table over going flying.

I didnt get to fire any really good loads, just re-manufactured military pulldown stuff.
I was reluctant to post results as its not really fair to base the potential on sloppy ammo.

Is there anyone out there that his a 50-cal reloading guru, and a great shooter, that could beg/borrow/steal one of these uppers and work up a match-load to do a serious range test? It would be interesting to see what these are really capable of.

I am shure totall and mildcustom will have a follow-up range trip with other ammo to show other results.

There is only one member on here that comes to mind and it would be a very good idea for CanAm to send it to DG Photography as he is a serious 50 cal reloader and shooter.
