Oh sorry disregard,my bad,I have an XCR....baaahahahaaaa :D

Haha yeah. I shoot there a lot. All winter I was there. But I didn't have an AR. Still shoot NR there. Have a sweet spot when I can shoot 1000+ yards. There's tons of rad spots there

Thanks for info. Is it busy on week nights? Is it paper targets only? Just would like a bit of info before I join any range.

Never busy on weeknights except for Monday and Wednesday. Monday nights don't use the 100/200m range I don't think. Paper targets only, unless you are participating in an event.

they are the only club that allows the use of restricted firearms...
I want to shoot restricted. So my only option is the btsa ranges.

With the exception of the 100m range and shotgun range when in use by the General public without supervision, the entire Homestead complex is and has been approved for restricted use.
The individual clubs like Rosebud and AFRA that are telling you they 'don't allow restricted firearms' are doing that because they don't want you as a member, and because they are FUDDs.

They're Benchrest and Prone clubs shooting for accuracy. Y'all know that those blasted semi-auto restricteds cant be accurate, right? RIGHT???

Some #### was about to call the Rcmp on me because I was firing a restricted firearm on an approved range.

I really dislike the canadian hatred for firearms, and ranges that refuse to accommodate restricted firearm users.

Negative. CDTSA is still taking memberships. The executive was handing out applications on the weekend at the A.A.C.C.A. gunshow.

Auggie D.

Within the scope of a match, I would agree those members are quite unlikely to utilize semiautos.
However, Rosebud has silhouette which is well suited to semi auto use. Also, you can bet many of their members have semi-autos too within their gun collections - guess where they use them?

It is just more double standard - ones they set for others, and ones they live by.

Giving your money to the APRA is just one step up from giving it to the Collition for Gun Control IMHO.

You cannot shoot Restricteds on the two public ranges. The "####" was well within his rights to call the RCMP for you using one there.

Can't shoot restricted semi autos on the rosebud ranges though

You know this how? The CDTSA had a booth at the Calgary Gun Show this weekend and were signing up new members.

Ridiculous!

WOW!!!......and that right there is a prime example of how F#d up the CDN gun mentality actually is.......and this coming from a Black Rifle sub forum with an inflated high percentage of RPAL holders.
Wutever happened to "Stand together or hang individually".....pathetic... :puke:

It is illegal to fire fire restricteds on the two Homestead public ranges. End of story. No different than shooting your restricted in the bush.

Maybe so,but it's the "well within his rights" comment that rubs me wrong.....or more correctly,it's the whole concept of the nanny state regulations pertaining to the use of restricteds that leaves a sour taste, not to mention the Range Nazi mentality of some that think "OMFG,that's a restricted rifle...hurry up and call the cops!".....

Read the email they sent me

"We have three target shooting organizations using the APRA (Alberta Provincial Rifle Association) Homestead Shooting Complex. Each organization is the steward of their respective ranges and thus they are three distinctive clubs:

The BTSA (www.btsa.ca) shoot target pistols such as IDPA and IPSC plus they have a 200m rifle / pistol range (they are the only club that allows the use of restricted firearms)

The AFRA (afratargetshooters@gmail.com) shoot long range DCRA style target TR & F-Class rifles from 300m to 900m

The Rosebud Silhouette & Benchrest Club shoots centerfire benchrest from 100 yds to 300yds and rimfire and centerfire metallic silhouettes from 50m to 500m.

-For Rosebud general inquiries and membership information contact: rosebudsilhouette@gmail.com

-For information on getting involved in competition benchrest shooting please contact: rickpollock@shaw.ca

-For information on getting involved in competition silhouette shooting please contact zzzpatter@gmail.com

All of these shooting organizations are competition orientated and are not general gun clubs. When you join one of these organizations you will also be joining the APRA. The APRA does provide a free, unsupervised, 100m public rifle range (paper targets only) and a free public shotgun only range (clay targets only), which are open during day light hours 24 / 7 except for range clean up days or for safety reasons (see APRA Website Calendar). None of the public ranges allow the use of any sort of restricted or registered firearm. Other than the public shotgun range, we do not have any other shotgun facilities.

You can go to the APRA website (albertarifle.com) for a map of the Homestead Shooting Complex location and a calendar for up coming events."

The email I sent regarding membership, I was responded to with that information^^

Sas only the btsa range are approved for restricted.

Like I said, what the current club executive say is for the advancement of their thoughts and feelings on the matter.

You could contact the CFO to get the real answers, as Rosebud and the 900m ranges were absolutely templated for restricted.
Run for the executive yourself and clean out the infestation that has become that Board of Dictatorship.

I was going to join the Buffalo Target Shooters but then found out you aren't even given access (you're own key) and have to shoot when they are running competitions... not a great deal at around $300. Trochu has a range for all usage (except .50) but a few years' ago they stopped taking any members from outside of Kneehill County... apparently it is only city people shooting inappropriately out there so they're trying to eliminate them. Waste of a nice range as it is normally empty. With these kinds of examples I can easily see where all the Fudd hatred starts to develop.
