I have a Black MPA. Cycles everything I've put in it. 3" Magnum slugs, buck shot, 2 3/4" #8 target loads. It functions flawlessly. I've shot trap with it as well. Great gun.
Not too bad of a price here...Where did you find an MP-A for $400? All the semi's I found were $469-$499. I already run a black model but for $400 I'd pick up a second one.
damn..there are no longer barrels available for the Hatsan shotgun you have. the issue lies with the fact that the defender/tactical style shotguns they make have different barrel lug location that on their hunting style shotguns. as a result, they're not interchangeable.
got the shotgun last night.. i opened it up, for a 400$ semi auto shotgun its pretty decent, the only thing im concerned about is theres rust on top of the bolt. i didnt have time last night to take it apart and degrease/clean it. ill take pictures of it tonight and put them up here.
I've had a black one for over a year. I find length of pull is a little long but might try to get a non-pistol grip stock for it. To be fair the only shells I've had issues with are the zinc plated steel headed winchester, the steel just doesn't contract down quick enough to give it a nice extraction IMO. Light loads in brass headed shells worked fine.
I did also polish the mag tube where the gas piston rides hoping this would get the cheapy shells to work but this didn't help. So if I'm messing around on the range I shoot whatever, if I'm in a competition or on the clock, I pony up the extra buck and get better ammo.
what do you use for competition?
The cheapest shells I can find with brass heads. I usually just buy from what the trap club is selling as it's right there and not a bad price. I did manage to find a shell and Challenger First class Target loads 1 1/8 oz loads run well in my gun.
