New to the Hi Power club (with pics)

I replaced the factory grips on my .40 MkIII with a set of rosewood Hogue's from Amazon.

Has the MDS been removed on yours? I just took mine out and I find there is a noticeable improvement in the trigger.

The MDS has been removed, I still have the parts and I'll keep them, but I didn't have to do the work myself. The trigger is actually REALLY good (i used to shoot a da/sa M92fs so take my perception with a grain of salt), but one thing I don't like is the basically non existent reset. I can't even feel it, only just barely hear it.

the 40 recoil spring is a bit tight for reassembly, but in not terribly difficult for me. I wonder if there is anywhere you could just buy a new slide assembly? Would be a nice way to get my hands on the 9mm if I can't get a conversion barrel easily.

Find a set of wood Craig Speigel grips. It offsets the bluing beautifully on your gun. The double thumb rests plastic hard grips on the MkIII feel awful to me and I switched mine to the same Pachmayrs!

Good call, they really are nice on the HP

Yes, it would be the "classic custom" package from the Novak website
Shoots like a house on fire!!

I also have a Colt LWC done up by them

Sorry about the thread hijack advoc, sounds like you got a great deal on your gun.
Remove the mag safety and try some other grips if the pachs aren't to your liking (I found them to feel "chunky" on a HP)

Gorgeous pair of guns! Did the HP start as a Mk. III? What's the trigger pull wt.? Bar Sto barrel?
I personally like the Pachs but I agree if you have short fingers, a thinner wood grip would work better.

I wont get upset if you keep posting eye candy like that canuck.

For those who know...

Do the Mec Gar mags (say from Brownells) have the spring on the base of the magazine to assist in dropping clear? I was taking a look at one of the 9mm HPs at the local store and it had a factory mag that looked exactly like a Mec Gar (with the plastic bottom) but it still had the spring thingy. Wholesale sports is the only store in town that stocks the HP mags, and they're genuine browning, but they're charging $70 a pop. The mec gar's seem an obvious choice, but maybe I'd spend a premium for that feature... I'm not sure.

I have a Mec-Gar mag without the spring. I've never had any function issues with it, BTW....
