The Quesnel Rod & Gun Club has just added an IDPA section to it's venue.

A formative meeting will be held in the next week and to date, response has been very positive. Check the club web site for additional info and contact people.

At our club swap meet today, I was promoting IDPA. Some were new converts, others were IPSC 'burnouts'. They were delighted to hear that their out-of-date BB course would get them accepted after the IDPA 'new shooter orientation'.

I've never seen a shooting sport so quickly embraced before. It was quite surprising to see the level of interest.

That has to be encouraging. :)

Both encouraging and surprising.

IPSC is languishing, not having attracted any more participants after the initial 16 were Black badge qualified, less than half of them still active members.

frankly as an experienced *dpa shooter and someone who has completed the black badge twice, is it any wonder..... idpa is inviting and forgiving, ipsc's model is intimidation and disqualification.

I'm glad that you said that and not me. I'm an ex- BB instructor having been around since the days of "Combat Pistol Shooting" ala Jeff Cooper when the 1911 was king. Incrementally the relevance and practicality of IPSC went by the board with the advent of optical sights and impractical holsters.

It galls me when a COF is designed with traps to disqualify shooters for no good reason. I've heard of as many as 6 shooters DQ'd at a match north of me which suggests that it was a case of poor stage design or intentional.

We could go on, but it's inappropriate to knock another shooting sport. Regarding our gun laws, we're all in the same boat, and it appears to be in danger of sinking at times.

I´m new to IDPA, hoping to start out this year. I like the simplicity...hopefully you guys get a match together so I have an excuse to drive out that way!
