I was watching it in the theater and I knew immediately it was an SKS... what an unusual choice for wandering the wasteland, figured a bayonet would be a very handy thing - yet it has been removed. Here it is in all it's glory:

I was certain that she wasn't popping off long range targets with a scoped SKS, but I guess she was:

At least the Russian M44 was intact with bayo and killed a couple zombies in The Walking Dead a little while ago

Dunno... saw a video recently of some guys in Aussie using SKS-D, said would cost him $300 to replace. I assume he meant Aussie dollars. So I just looked that up, is $290 Canadian. Seems a lot if you are talking a Russian sks. But these were SKS-D, which seem to be selling for $500+ in Canada. One on the EE was being offered for $800... seems way too high to me but if someone buys, more power to the seller.

Hmmmm....maybe I got it mixed up somewhere...

I know she has some ties to PETA, and that frequently means anti, but did her mother not kill her father in self defence using a handgun?? Seems odd that she would be anti, after an experience like that.

That will be a tough movie to watch. I hate hate staunch anti gun pukes like her who readily use them in movies.

Theron is a foaming at the mouth anti gun person who believes that your guns should be outlawed.

‘It has to change,’ she says about the gun ownership laws in America, where there have been 44 school shootings since the 2012 Newtown massacre.

‘Where we are now is not helping – we see an increase of gun-related deaths.

'If it’s not working, we have to change it. I’m a mum. I’m going to be sending my kid to school and I want to know he is going to be safe.’

Views of this kind don’t make you very popular in America’s conservative heartland.

But unlike a lot of A-list stars, Theron is not afraid to speak her mind – even when it comes to toxic subjects like gun control and ### marriage.

‘I have to be truthful to myself,’ she tells Event.

‘I think that’s the beauty of living in a democracy. I was raised to have awareness of what’s happening and to take a view.’

Theron told Event columnist Piers Morgan in a 2011 interview that the childhood shooting was ‘the great tragedy of my life’.

She said: ‘I had a parent who led me through the grief, shock and anger – she guided me to not being a victim. It doesn’t haunt me. I am at peace.’

The actress has come a long way since that terrible day in Benoni, near Johannesburg, 23 years ago.

She may not acknowledge it herself, but she is part of Hollywood’s political set, alongside George Clooney, Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins, Leonardo DiCaprio and new boyfriend Sean Penn.

Theron attended last December’s Nelson Mandela memorial service in Johannesburg and was photographed laughing alongside U2 frontman and fellow activist Bono.

Penn, 53, is a recent convert to the anti-gun lobby, and underscored his commitment to the cause earlier this year when he commissioned American artist Jeff Koons to make a sculpture out of his 67 – yes, 67 – weapons.

The yet-to-be-completed piece was auctioned at a glitzy charity bash in Hollywood, where Piers Morgan bid a staggering $1.3million, before losing out to his then CNN colleague Anderson Cooper, who wrote a cheque for $1.4million. (As Piers pointed out, that’s not quite so reckless at it might seem, given that a Jeff Koons sculpture recently sold for $34 million.)

Without naming Theron, Penn told the star-studded bash that ‘a strong woman from South Africa’ changed his mind and prompted him to abandon his arsenal of weapons – ‘my cowardly killing machines’.

X2. I'll pass.

Better pass on 95% of movies made as the vast majority of actors/producers/directors are liberal tree hugger anti's.

Why does every discussion on movies or tv shows have to end up to this debate? Don't like it, don't watch Mad Max but eat up Taken 4 when it comes out :p (yes, he's an anti too, just like 95% of the industry).

I don't have 67 firearms, but I wouldn't give up my meager collection of 16 to bone Theron for the rest of my life. I'd rather eat blue waffles than do what Sean Penn did.
Penn is a lefty douchebag hypocrite.

Anti-Gun Advocate Sean Penn Stars in 'The Gunman'

Sean Penn, lover of all things Communist except when getting paid the big bucks for the films he stars in, used to be a gun collector. Then he met a girl:
“Sean Penn, one of Hollywood’s most liberal voices who also happens to be an avid gun collector, has changed his Second Amendment mind and now vows to melt down all his firearms.

“The reason?

“A girl – specifically, his new anti-gun girlfriend, fellow Hollywood notable Charlize Theron, Breitbart reported. The two have been recently linked as a romantic couple.

“Mr. Penn said during a recent Help Haiti Home benefit that was well-attended by other celebrities: ‘A strong woman who happens to be from South Africa’ persuaded me to relinquish my guns, E! Online reported.”

Penn donated his gun collection, 65 in all, to be turned into a piece of anti-gun art. "The highest bidder gets every single one of my guns put in the hands” of artist and sculptor Jeff Koons. Koons “will decommission [and] render inactive all of my cowardly killing machines.”

Anderson Cooper outbid Piers Morgan by donating $1.4 for the gun collection.

That was so a year ago. But all that rhetoric about “cowardly killing machines” has not stopped him from doing films with a gun theme.

This from a man who said he was going to melt down his gun collection. Let me follow the Left’s anti-gun argument. Penn’s gun collection, which was probably under lock and key, was more of a threat than a hyper-violent gunman film that might encourage young people to buy more guns and use them.
The film makes guns look exciting. The typical gun owner never shoots his guns. Turning his gun collection into a piece of art won[t stop a single gun crime. Penn should be commended for his charity work but not his hypocrisy.

I'm going to guess that Penn will say that the film is really an anti-gun film because he wants out of the hit man business. Who wouldn't? The Gunman is a Taken 1, 2, 3 rip off. It's the use of guns in the revenge film that will put movie goers in the theater seats, not some faux hidden anti-gun message.

There really isn’t any need for consistency among Hollywood types as long as what they do is "art” (and a big paycheck) for their craft.

Someone can ask whatever they want in the EE. Doesn't mean that an SKS-D is worth $800. It takes AK mags but so what, they're still pinned to 5. I'd rather have the internal magazine. It appears that the SKS is pretty popular down under, however it is Restricted to own. Don't know how restricted it is, not willing to look up their semi-auto rifle restrictions just to talk about a post apocalyptic movie. Think we're still better off than them.

I do pass on 95% of movies and 99% of TV shows.

Liam Neeson is on my don't watch because of anti gun hypocrisy list as well.

Id pay $800 for an amazing example of an SKS-D

It's supply and demand. They are no longer made and I doubt they will be made again. It's the same incredible SKS platform everyone loves with the added benefit of detachable mags from factory.

X3. She'll make no money off me.

She didn't either from me. I haven't paid for a movie ticket in years. I get free movie tickets from my Scene card and from work, for xmas.

I guess it's a rarity but it's still a lot of money for an SKS-D. How many times has the ad been bumped?

Anyone see Expendables? They are all anti's, even your favourite action hero's.

I wouldn't knowingly give my business to a rabid anti-gun plumber or a rabid anti-gun dentist.
Similarly, I wouldn't pay to see a movie starring a rabid anti-gun actor.

It may be a useless and purely symbolic gesture, but those are my principles and that is one of the ways I exercise my commitment to those principles.
Your mileage may vary....

BTW a while ago my wife suggested we see the latest Taken flick and I mentioned Liam Neeson's anti-gun position. She said, "then I will never support that actor again".
Man I love my wife.
