Charlize Theron's SKS in "Mad Max, Fury Road"

She didn't either from me. I haven't paid for a movie ticket in years. I get free movie tickets from my Scene card and from work, for xmas.

I guess it's a rarity but it's still a lot of money for an SKS-D. How many times has the ad been bumped?

Anyone see Expendables? They are all anti's, even your favourite action hero's.

Right now Id say that one in particular is a bit over priced, but they are only going to go up like normal SKS's are. Used to be $75 now they are 200+

I've no problem watching Hollywood style gun violent movies with anti actors. I just make sure they make no money off me.

Man that sucks that she's an anti too, always kinda liked her. I've come to accept that most actor/actresses/Hollywood types are anti anyway, I won't let that stop me from enjoying movies.
If they're a good actor, I like them as an actor, they entertain me, that's where it ends. What they do/promote in their personal life I couldn't give two s##ts about.
I think Tom Cruise is totally whacked out with all that Scientology stuff, whatever that's his choice but I still enjoy his movies, I've always liked his movies generally speaking. Theron and Neeson are anti-gun. Well f### them. I'm still gonna enjoy Mad Max when I get around to watching it, ain't nothing going to stop me from doing that. Life's too short to let a celebrity's useless opinion affect my enjoyment of the little things.

I was watching it in the theater and I knew immediately it was an SKS... what an unusual choice for wandering the wasteland, figured a bayonet would be a very handy thing - yet it has been removed. Here it is in all it's glory:
...
I was certain that she wasn't popping off long range targets with a scoped SKS, but I guess she was:

I was going to ask if she was using "max's" shoulder to hit some target 1000yds away...

Will see the movie eventually and get a chuckle at the silly things they try to do with guns.

But you could certainly be stuck with much worst guns then an SKS at the end of days.... in a sandstorm

gunshot so close to the guy's ear? one more reason to skip this movie. The first two are: Mel Gibson is not in it, the lady is "anti gun" big time.

Actors, as a rule, are broken people who don't just do it for the money, they do it because they need to spend as much of their life being "someone else" as they can because they aren't comfortable with the person they are.

The bigger d-bags are the hero worshipping weenies who think that famous actors have a functioning brain that makes their opinions valid.

I agree.

So did anyone see the movie or have an opinion on the SKS that was used?

Good movie, great practical FX and stunts, I had fun. Been waiting for a sequel to Road Warrior for 30 years (Thunderdome doesn't count), and I thought it delivered.

Long range shot at a fast moving target (dude on a motorbike), at night, with blowing sand to obscure the sight picture. Of course she one shot drilled it, because, you know, movies...

When I was watching that scene in the theatre, I cringed as she lined up the shot and almost covered my ears in empathy for the shattered eardrum that would have occurred IRL if someone did that. Of course, in the movie, Mad Max's ears rang for about a half second before he shook it off and got his game back on.

A mere mortal would have been on the ground, probably unconscious, with blood seeping out of their ear from a shattered eardrum, and quite possibly semi blind from burst blood vessels in the eyes and a detached cornea - no, he didn't even close his eyes when she took the shot.

Meh. Movies. Whaddya gonna do. It was good popcorn fair and a decent excuse to get out and hang out with some friends for the evening.

Just got back from watching it again. Yes the gunshot next to his ear does mess him up a bit, and no it wasn't 1000 yard shot either, maybe a couple hundred at a 12" or bigger light mounted on the Bullet farmers tracked rig, and she did have to dial up for it.

Don't watch it then.

I see Mel Gibson listed as both or as a 'flip flopper' on the subject. One thing for sure, he doesn't like Jews, Blacks, ###s... don't think he's worked much since he made a fool out of himself. But, he'd be better than Tom Hardy? In what world do you live in? Well, at least he's not anti-steroids:

... or anti-domestic violence

Saw the movie on Friday, as soon as she pulled the SKS out from the back seat i grinned ear to ear in the theater :) enjoyed the fact that it played an important role for a decent time in the movie as well, untill they run out of ammo, thought id see it again after Max blew up the rip saw car and got that guys ak mags... but i didnt. I dont understand what you mean by an SKS being an odd choice. Did think the giant wooden fore grip seemed unnecessary.

I think it was an excellent movie, YOU BOYCOTTERS WILL BE MISSING OUT ! :p

That's what I said, I'll skip this movie. Why repeat it?
Mel Gibson is Mad Max!
There would be no Mad Max without Mel Gibson.
No substitute will ever come close.
(edit don't reply, you're on my ignore list)

I'll reply to my own thread as I see fit. I just saw your ridiculous post and had to comment on it. You hate an anti-gun actress but everyone knows Mel Gibson is a wackjob and 59 years old, how is he going to play Max?

It's a good movie, I posted something very benign and you guys made it into a debate, so now you can deal with it.
