Norinco NS522 build: NEW MAG RELEASE

You are not far off at all man. Basically, you are talking about "pinning" the bolt handle and that is a very acceptable method. Normally you will drill a small hole on the side that faces the stock ( so you never see it) and use a "pin" that is made of the same material as your handle. Once it is tapped in place with epoxy or whatever and polished out you will never know.

This one I made is easier to remove if I change my mind. That is the main benefit of threads. Plus, once you have a tap and die set you will able to fabricate and repair all sorts of cool things.

oh Ok ,, but I was talking about the over travel screw installed on the 522 trigger group ,,,,

If you take a good look at the width of the trigger housing, then look at the size of even a little bitty 4-40 allen-headed set screw, you'll see that the margin of error is slim-to-none. This is a job that calls for a drill press. If you don't want to wait, though...you do have options. For example, you can add a shim between the trigger and the inside of the trigger housing. It will do the same thing--it will shorten the amount of over travel. People have done this using cut-up strips of credit cards as shims. Simply cut to the proper width and insert the shim(s). Another way is to mix up a blob of JB Weld; this blob is then affixed to the front edge of the trigger (which, like the credit card shim(s), simply shortens the trigger's overtravel). The beauty of this approach is, after the JB Weld has dried, the "blob" can be filed down to "fine tune" the over-travel adjustment. If you file too much off, add more JB Weld, let it dry, and try again. Try either one of these methods before trying the one you outlined above. Above all, be patient! And, let me add this--the JB Weld "blob" method can also be used in place of the lower sear engagement screw. Simply put the blob on the end of the trigger and file as necessary.

Honey where did you put your purse ???
Honey where are the scissors ???
Honey don't as WHY , you really don't what to know hahahah

Ok really , yes it is a good idea for an easy fix that can easy be undone with out causing any permeate damage due to ineffective tools and or labour ha ha meaning me .

Great idea's once again !!!!!!!

Best thread on CGN's

In the midst of all this discussion, I've been messing with the trigger on my second NS522. Starting with an ordinary 2 inch safety pin, I placed the coil of the pin over an ordinary pin punch (to hold it in place), then, with pliers, bent the pin around until I had added another coil to the pin. I then cut the safety pin to the approximate length and installed it. The trigger pull is lighter than with the factory spring, for sure. I cannot take credit for this idea, though, as someone [rustysdream] mentioned adding another coil to the safety pin a few pages back in this thread. I am going to take another safety pin and add two coils to it as an alternative trigger spring. I'll keep messing with these safety pins until I get a combination I like, and I'll report back here with the results. Thanks for all the good ideas, gentlemen! [Edit: it took longer to type this post than it did to fashion a second safety pin with two additional coils. I'll try the second pin tomorrow, because it is now time for bed!]

This evening I installed the safety pin spring that I had added two extra coils to. The trigger is nice and light, and it passes the bump test. I made a few spares, including a couple that I added three coils to, but I'll keep the two-extra-coils model in the gun until I have a chance to shoot it outdoors. I'm looking forward to it drying up enough that I can go to the range....

Mini keep us posted as to which number of coils gives you the best trigger pull .

Thank you I'm sure I will once it get here , been waiting a little while for it but there was a good reason for that and I'm Ok with it ,
I Know with you guys in support , I am sure I'll make a good shooter out of it , half the fun is in the journey / tinkering .

Question ... has any one tried Remington Target .22 LR in their ns522 ?

It's hard to find any 22 ammo here but I have a line on some Remington Target .22 LR bricks , just wondering if I should make the drive and pick one or two up ???

The Federal Automatch works pretty good in mine, but I think if I keep trying other stuff, I'll find something that works even better.

Good to hear , the problem is that I can go to CT and by Rem sub sonic for $ 10.99 + Tax = 12 .42 a box of 50 rds if they have any left now or
drive 30 minutes and have a choice of Remington Target .22 LR , about Federal AutoMatch .22 LR or Federal Champion 714 Target .22 LR or CCI Quiet 22 LR and I can buy them by the brick way less expensive than CT and they have " Some " in stock " right now .... 22lr are getting very hard to find , even out 100 miles from my home . Sad /////////////////
