There was an article in the Calgary Sun today bemoaning the shortage of 22LR.

Not sure where the shortage is, picked up 4200 rounds for $200. Don't mind the 2100 round label on the can, I'm just reusing it.
Mind sharing where you picked those up for that price?

I just picked up 1000 rounds at Cabela's in Edmonton.
was just in PA same deal no 22lr went to cabelas super store wow what a place ,rifles all over on racks just pickem up and have a look very surreal , but they had a order of thunder bolts in 20 bucks a brick ,had about 150000 rounds guy said would be gone in about 20 minutes

Was in Wholesale North Edmonton an hour ago, no .22. They had but some guy walked in and bought everything they had, around $1000 in one swipe. He said new store policy now 500 rounds max. Also no pistol powder other then H110. A $1000 worth of .22 and people keep saying their not hoarding!
i dont think anyone has denied that there is hoarding. i would consider anything above a years supply hoarding. if you are shooting 20k rounds a year having that much on hand isnt a big deal when you consider your consumption. there are some people who have more ammo in storage than they have shot in the previous 10 years combined. the division is in people who think there is a 'shortage'. i am of the firm belief that taking types of ammo out of the equation (ie you will shoot whatever), production is only a little behind demand. in that sense there isnt much of a 'shortage' at all (if any at all). the issue is ammo stockpiles that people have. I know of several people (in my small sample size) in the US sitting on 100k rounds of .22. and these are self-proclaimed centerfire shooters who perhaps shoot 5k rounds a year of rimfire. if all rimfire ammo was distributed according to what everyone shot and people purchased only what they needed we would have more than enough ammo to go around.
I know they don't have a range. I'm there a couple times a month.
I clearly stated they WANTED to put in a range and sell restricteds but the City of Vaughan wouldn't allow them to.
york region police went in there and demanded that they remove all of their assisted opening knives from store shelves because in their opinion they were 'illegal'. i really wish law enforcement were actually familiar with... you know... laws... so is it really any surprise to anyone that they would oppose a range and selling restricted firearms?
i was there a few days after they had to clear out their knives looking for one. the shelf was half empty. the counter guy said they were all boxed up in the back and there was a decent chance that they would be destroyed because they were unable to send them back due to a technicality (hopefully they were able to send them back after all). and they were not cheap. im talking about benchmade's and other higher end knives.

I would have to wonder why they wouldn't just ship them to another store in Canada that isn't in a town run by morons.
yea i asked that. thats what i assumed as well. maybe some sort of policy didnt make it possible. as i said, i hope they were sold to customers in the end.

To me that sentence looks like you meant to say "they wanted to sell restricted's and, if I recall correctly, even have a indoor range" which almost seemed like they already had an indoor range. A lot of people there at first glance think that the indoor range is for firearms as it is right beside the rather large firearms counter.

Makes me happy, .22 is hard to get around here at decent prices.

Why do some people need so much .22 ammo?
I've still got some full boxes from the 1960s.
I've got three .22 rifles and take one out once in a while, shoot about 10 shots to see how the rifle works, then put it away for a year or so.
I can't grasp this freak out over the supposed "shortage."
