This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

Wow! That's 12 cents a round.

I got a case of CCI mini mags in December for 8 cents a round and I thought I was over paying at the time. 5000 rounds for $400 out the door is what I paid.

I have a few mini mag packs that are marked $6.99, then some marked 10.95 and these ones marked $12. I think the 1600 packs used to be $120 or so at CT. I'm not saying it's a deal, but it's there (and likely will sell) :)

I just picked up 20 boxes of CCI quiet 22(at local Canadian tire) .I paid $ 5.49 per box . Total $ 109.80 plus tax.

Did I pay too much?

11 cents a shot. Id pay the same for match ammo and not bulk junk.
If you do a search for cci quiet. Youll find issues with a wide range in fps. Funny cause all other cci brand ammo is topnotch

Agree but when some stores sell it for normal cost, I have faith the price will come back down.
Just like gas, it was only 1.30 for awhile and came back down.
However if your looking at long term, I think 4-5 cents is over.

local cdn tire has dozens of bricks of blue federal (500 rnds) but they want $47 each. I left it there at 9.4 cents per round. Had they been 8, I would have bought a brick or two...
I guess I'm saying no to the "supply" end of the formula ; )

I bought some CCI .22 subsonics for 8.99 in the 100 packs a few weeks ago... they state 1050fps, I think the quiets are 710fps or some thing (have a bunch of those from a will ago also)

I never believed in a "shortage" the problem is every time a store gets any .22 one or two guys have to go in and buy 4000 rounds and hoard it with the 12000 they have home. Thats the worst problem. People created a shortage by being greedy hoarders

But is hoarding a new problem? Because the shortages are.

*sigh* topped up my stock with 1000 thunderbolts the other day at 8c/rd
still have some that i got for 4c/rd not even 2 yrs ago
they actually had a golden bucket, but 10c/rd... some day i may regret leaving it on the shelf
but not today

cci? never heard of em, lol

The one thing I will say about the .22 shortage... It made me appreciate the .22 a lot more than I did. It honestly was just a "plinker" that I would stop by and grab a brick of "whatever" on the way to the range, or the farm or wherever. I never thought of it as anything more than a can perforator. I would have bought the "bucket of bullets" and been set for a year.

Now I have had the opportunity to try and scrutinize the .22 a great deal more. I've even bought more .22 firearms, which is really odd considering. I have come to dislike the bulk ammo (especially the bucket of bullets), not because they are inherently bad, but because the way the shipments are handled. They get knocked around, dropped, crushed etc, you get faulty primers and especially loose bullet seating. I now prefer a copper plating to just lead, as I found foaming bore cleaner can take out copper pretty easily and the barrels seem to stay cleaner for more shots. I prefer bullets that are individually packaged such as the mini mags where each bullet is suspended and protected from a lot of abuse of shipping. I have even tried quiet and subsonic ammo, which likely I never would have done.

So I guess I'm saying the shortage has not been all bad. I don't like the new prices, but I'll never look at .22 the same as I did for the past ~40 years :)

Just picked up mini mags from Kelly's in Inwood. He had a couple of the 1600 packs left for $192. It's not on the website because he figures it will clear out by Wed.

that seems like a bad deal imo. bass pro was selling the same thing for 120. heck buyingthem at 9.99 per 100 rounds is a better deal :(

if they shipped ammo and did online sales of ammo i'd buy from them... but no way i'm driving 2-2.5h to only buy a limit of 1 or 2 boxes... that 1600 bulk offer was a shocker to me. wish i could have gotten in on it.

Not so much BassPro, as some of their gun policies and fuddly, ill-informed gun counter help.

Yean, not sure I'd buy a gun there, but for ammo they have become my go to store, and not just for .22lr.

The one in Vaughan Ontario wanted to sell restricteds and IIRC even have an indoor range.

The city squashed those plans.

Not sure where the shortage is, picked up 4200 rounds for $200. Don't mind the 2100 round label on the can, I'm just reusing it.
