This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

No shortage of .22 ammo.

I've concluded prices are up a bit..... that's life. My favorite store in Edmonton has quality .22 ammo for $35 a box of 500. Remington high velocity, not the subsonic stuff used for, say, biathalon, and Federal are my favorite. The bulk Winchester mostly found at Walmart is inferior.... often get loose heads on the bullets, which jam in semi-automatics, and even in a bolt action. Further, the Winchester stuff is much, much dirtier & fouls your guns to a far greater degree.

As everyone knows, there is nothing remotely close to shoot that is as cheap as .22 rimfire. It is unfortunate to hear perhaps a $10 or $15 price jump over the last 5 years on boxes of 500 rounds might be unaffordable for some shooters here.

I was at Le Barons in Markham the other day and they had Winchester 555 for $33 plus tax, which isn't too bad.

Cabelas in Barrie wants 46$ +tx for the same box... Bought it for 36$ tax in, in Bass Pro Shp Vaughan... still expensive but we decided to go plinking and I'm far from my stash so...

That is bad......

Bass pro has been good since they imposed a limit.
It's really pays to have a significant other with a PAL.:dancingbanana:

They've actually been very reasonable with their prices throughout this .22lr shortage too.

I picked up a CCI Mini Mag 1,600 round ammo can there a few weeks ago for about $135 tax in.

I was glad to be around when that deal came thru, I think you actually said something about it, I was driving back from home, eh gotta stop to Bass Pro Shop for a second guys :p

Yeah always go in with 2-3 friends with PALs, it helps ;)

since switching to a bolt over a semi I have found my ammo seems to be lasting longer. :) it's a nice change to pace too.

wish bass pro would ship and do online sales. I hear about them having decent deals on ammo, but I live way to far away to justify driving down for only 1 or 2 boxes...

that 1600ct mini mags for $130 had me drooling :p wish i could have got in on that.

Cant stress enough to avoid Cabelas online orders, been 2+ weeks, got part of my order so far, was over-charged, then refunded, then charged the wrong amount again. Not to mention the ammo was poorly packaged and some was actually loose when I got it. Wow... will be happy to get the rest of my order and never to order from them again.

Lebarons in Mississauga only had 100 packs of Winchester 22lr for $10 today, lousy selection of powder and bullets too. Glad I didn't go just to visit them.

Yeah...I like Le Baron Markham, but the same is basically true. For powder, I try my best to keep a pound or two ahead of my requirements. I'm down to hand loading only .223 now, and since it's for hunting...I don't burn through allot of it. I just finished a 1lb jug and cracked open 1 of the 2 I have left. First item of business today~call my local dealer and get my name on a lb. of Varget the next time it comes in. (told it would be some time before I see it, which is fine) Same goes for bullets. I have enough of the 53gr. V-Max for this season and most of next....but saw boxes of 100 @ Cabela's Barrie last week and picked one up. In a perfect world, powder/bullets/primers (and 22lr ammo) would be on the shelf when you go to reach for it....but such is not the case.

Unlike good 22 ammo, I find it easier to keep stocked-up on reloading components. Just need to get a little ahead of what you need in the short term, then long waits aren't a big deal. Working for me so far anyway.

My Cabelas CCI order came in lickity -split . Very well packed . The more people you can " convince" not to buy at Cabelas , the better . More ammo for the rest of us .

Wal*Mart hasn't changed their price on Win 555 in two years it seems; still $25,47 on the tag. Now the shelf is usually empty, but stock continues to trickle in. What are other stores being charged wholesale that they have doubled the price, on this and other non-premium ammunition?

I don't *like* the stuff (feels like you can get 222 duds out of 555), but 5¢ per round is hard to resist right now for plinking ammo. Bought two more boxes $29 after tax apiece tonight, but left the rest. This is the stuff people clean out of W*M then walk around a gun show with a sign ‘Bricks of .22 for $80’ looking for suckers.

Yup im trying real hard not to order from them as I had exactly the same bad experiance as you.I did speak to a supervisor and got a free $20 gift card ,should have been $50 for all the hassle.
