This .22LR shortage is starting to piss me off.

Darn near puked in my mouth when I saw CT prices in West K town last time I was there. Yuck. But then I don't know what they had to pay to get that stuff either. Not spending my .22 rimfire budget there thats for sure. Or so I thought before I spent a sunday in Prince George trying to source some. E&I was closed. I failed to spend big dollars there for some as well. Got back to Ft Mac and Wal-Mart didn't let me down. Some in stock at normal (to me) prices. Cdn Tire on the other hand, Quiet CCI .22lr 5.49 per tiny box. Ouch

The whole stock piling ammo and reloading supplies just goes right over my head. Even with the hit and miss availability right now, product pops up. If my .22lr supply is low and some shows up I buy 3 or 4 boxes, not 3 or 4 bricks. Yes probably have 2-3 bricks in total but not bought in one go. Same for powder. 3 or 4 pounds of various rifle and handgun powders, I'm set. If I'm getting down on a certain powder I watch for something I can use to restock, but not more them a pound. People that are buying in large amounts and reselling, hope they get caught with a pile of stuff you can't get your money back on.
Not knowing the wholesale price, can't say if resellers are gouging, suspect some are. The fact that supply is hit and miss surprised that shops don't limit quantity per sell. It's not like someone else is not going to walk in and buy shortly.

I usually go through 300-500 rounds of .22 in one session! I have to buy more than a couple boxes at a time or I wouldn't be shooting nearly as much as I'd like to. As for powder, some kinds seem to only show up once every couple of years, so when I see the stuff I like, I buy a couple pounds just so I have a good supply and aren't forced to work up another load with a new powder.

Up until the last five years or so, I too only had what I needed, and if I ran out I went to the store and picked some more up. Ahhhh, those were the days!

Airdrie Canadian Tire had 30+ boxes of Thunderbolts last time I was there @ $42, and some other stuff. The app says in stock at several other nearby stores as well. No shortage around here.
