Found this in EMEI Firearms catalogue

There is no technical reason why the Type 81 should be prevented from being classed as non-restricted, however...

I suspect the White Shirts in Miramachi will stall this until after the next election, hoping for a more pliable party in power.

Unsure why the OP says "It seems it is coming" but shows a foreign catalog to do so. I think this has been locked in the RCMP vault for a couple years now, right?

When and if Mulclair/Trudeau/Coalition gets in, better buckle up.

It's really just an SKS with AK furniture, from what I'm reading. But, you never know with the people inspecting it. If there is another gov't besides the Conservatives, I think we'll lose a lot more than a rifle that may never get approved.

Foreign catalog? You mean their are other oppressive countries that limit their subjects to 5 shot clips?

So where is this catalog from then, looks like a Norinco catalog to me. I don't see any clips in those pics. Show me where this tells us that the 81 is coming, with it's FRT #.

Barrel length listed is 475mm, which is 18.7 inches. Which is interesting when you consider the original configuration is 17.9 inches for the barrel.

EMEI does have plans to get this into Canada as Non-Restricted.

FRT examination is in progress. There is another there showing an EMEI website. Of note, SFRC has a link on that website's banner. Funny how a Chinese website has a link to a Canadian supplier.

Like I said lots are listed on the site. Look at the non MP5 one. That would be cool to have too. Or the new modified type 97 with factory ftu.

Built for us probably. Anytime soon? Debatable. Some things have been waiting for an FRT for years.
