Senator intelligence ?

I can't even begin to understand where she is coming from. Her blog regarding the events of October 22nd is straight up offensive.
But I did like the reply someone gave to it.
Senator, someone trying to do you harm was prevented by good men and women with guns. They risked their safety to ensure you and the other people who make up the government of Canada were safe. Thank them publicly, sincerely and often. Now you know to stock your office with a first aid kit and bottled water so that you may be of service to others instead of being angry that those who served you in the other of Canada's official languages. You are a disgrace to your party.

Keep in mind that one day those people will be re-elected in power.....I am not looking forward to that time but it will happen.....

The Senate serves no purpose. They are APPOINTED. You and I have no say in who received these positions. This woman is a prime example of someone who was given something instead of earning it.
We need to trim the fat in this country. No more appointed positions. Especially with the RCMP.

I'm wondering how reliable the source is...this just seems "hoax-ish" to me...the over-the-top tone seems too much, even for a Liberal. They're usually the ones advocating that law enforcement being the only ones with the guns . If it is proved true, though, it's baffling how anyone would think this way

This^

Also, it is about time for the same old NDP and LPC tactics with their lame, infuriating, anti gun BS they try every election.

We all need to stand together on Election Day.

Senator intelligence ? What next, disarm the RCMP?

LEAKED FROM PARLIAMENT HILL: A LIBERAL SENATOR SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HILL SECURITY

The letter below was written by a Liberal Senator about the new security measures on Parliament Hill.

Speaker of the House of Commons

The Hon. Leo Housakos
Speaker of the Senate
Senate of Canada
Centre Block, Room 178-F
Ottawa, Ontario K1A 0A4

Dear Speaker Housakos and Speaker Scheer:

Subject: Security on Parliament Hill

I am writing to you to express my concern about the security measures implemented on the Hill in the wake of the events of October 22, 2014.

Every time I enter the Senate Chamber, I see two armed police officers at the door, one with a handgun and one with an automatic firearm.

I must admit that this does not make me feel safe. On the contrary, I am frightened by the thought that a police officer armed with an automatic weapon could shoot it on the Hill.

How many innocent victims would pay with their lives for this so-called security measure?

In my opinion, it is a serious mistake to arm police officers with these weapons. No matter what, the first victims of an attack will probably be police officers, because people who wish to do harm do not give advance notice.

Security that relies on firepower has proven to be ineffective, and millions of Americans have paid the price for this false assumption with their lives.

I remind you of the incident of October 22, when the intruder—not a terrorist—was shot by Sergeant-at-Arms Kevin Vickers, in full view of the many RCMP officers stationed on the Hill.

I would ask that you stop endorsing violence by having heavily armed police officers on site at all times.

Even in the United States, visitors, members of the House of Representatives and Senators are not welcomed to Congress by armed guards like this.

We all know that the firearms lobby has undue influence with the government but, going forward, I would like to see decisions affecting Hill security being made based on scientific proof and remaining within the limits of the powers granted to you.

I would appreciate any explanations you can give me about the security measures currently in place and about your commitment to review this policy shortly.

Yours respectfully,

The Hon. Céline Hervieux-Payette, P.C.
Senator

If this is really a picture of the 74 year old senator, then stupidity must be a superb preservative.

Just to make sure the world is aware of the Senator's superior grasp of the facts and logic, I have edited her Wikipedia page under "controversies". There is an 'undo' function, but also a 'restore' function.

I just found something hilarious there in her wiki page. Apparently she on public record of being in favour of the seal hunt, and she has a page where she promotes "National Seal and Seafood Products Day". Mmmm,... BBQ seal meat. Ahhh,..(Homer-ish) ;-)

I am myself in favour of just about any kind of legal sustainable hunting, as a bow and gun hunter myself, but it makes me wonder, with such a ludicrous stance she has against the use of deadly force or the use of firearms by our police, how does she reconcile being in support of the seal hunt, or any kind of hunting for that matter? Isn't that too violent for her? This just gets curiouser and curiouser. Or maybe she's got a split personality? ;-D

If it's true it's just what the pro side needs. She's opened the door to a healthy conversation.
I'd love to see her sit down with Solomon or the guy who put most of the 31 shots into the perp and talk it out on a CBC news hour special.

Also the fact that it took 31 shots to deal with this nut suggests that even 10 round magazines is a serious handicap.

The RCMP push against LAR mags should be met with a push towards standardizing 10 rounds in all detachable mags and not an RCMP attempt to push it down to 5.

Question for the RCMP who are concerned with public safety.

How much of a firepower advantage do you need over the law abiding, in order to guarantee their safety?
