Stop the RCMP!

Has anyone else received this email response from Blaney's office?

While the LAR-15 example was removed, the principle remained on the website, namely:

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

I have been advised that it was more of an administrative streamlining of the website to shorten the list of examples, and not an attempt to remove that example as being acceptable. Either way, no changes have been made to those regulations, and none are currently planned. If there is an attempt to circumvent the existing regulations, we will act.

That appears to be good news.
So possibly, "much ado about nothing", unless these people are playing coy little games. Still suspicious.

So now they're trying to write the laws themselves? Jurisprudence by cop, lovely. The criminal code seems clear to me, but I guess it isn't clear enough. Laws should be written so even the lowest common denominator can understand, and they can only be interpreted one way; the intended way.

Well there is a message from PSM office stating no regulations have been changed or planned. If there is any change by RCMP which impacts the property rights of gun owners, Government will act.

We can mark this episode as a win. Bring on the Beowulf pistol Mags.

my spidey sense is tingling at this sentence. interesting they would take out the most relevant and widely applicable example for this principle.

None other than the Minister of Public Safety has gone on record of saying there is no change and people still carry on.

I believe the cops are now claiming that. They streamline websites like they streamline flooded towns.

This is funny because I called the RCMP firearms Identification lab on Tuesday and they told me that they haven`t got an answer about the magazines yet and it`s still under review and asked to email my questions. I ask why I should I email you guys if you can`t give me answer over the phone. She said that it had to be recorded. I told her then I was going to the range and I didn`t want to go there with something prohibited with all this new minimum sentences dealing with firearms… She kept on saying to email and I would get an answer until next week. So then I ask her so if nobody knows the rules then no one can enforce them right? She agreed. I said thank you.

The silent black helicopters are slowly circling your house right now. The RCMP will initiate another flood so they can go in and grab your guns. Better use commercial grade tinfoil for your hat. I heard Alcon is in league with the feds, reducing the aluminum content of regular foil to make it less effective.

My theory is that Blaney's office got wind of this and put in a few phone calls. Perhaps with the offer of some nice RCMP postings in darkest Nunavut should the status quo change. Possibly an RCMP fishing trip to gauge reaction?
